Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster (2011)

What performances..what a movie..thumbs up!!

When I saw the trailers of the movie, I thought it to be a soft porn movie. But, wanted to watch it still because Jimmy Shergill is always a delight to watch, and because it was a Tigmanshu Dhulia movie.

Trust me it is not a soft porn movie, all the intimate scenes are very tastefully done. Doesn't seem like they were unnecessarily added to sell the movie.

Mahi Gill, Jimmy Shergill and Randeep Hooda have acted amazingly well. I would watch this movie again and again for their performances. Sanjay Chauhan and Tigmanshu Dhulia have done a great job with the script and direction.

To conclude, I would say its a must watch for all above 18 years of age. Its not a family movie.

Please please watch it for the performances.

Jolly LLB (2013)

Its a "Jolly" good movie

It is definitely worth a watch. You may not watch to watch it over and over again though.

Arshad Warsi has acted well, but Boman Irani steals the show. What a performance. Not to forget Saurabh Shukla, who is as usual fantastic. The story is great, screenplay is good, the dialogs are fantastic and the direction is really good.

It can be watched with family, though the language used in some scenes has a very rugged touch, but it is understandable. The songs I think were not needed.

Its such a pity that good movies and performances like these go un-noticed because of lack of hype.

All in all its a watchable movie, and I would say its a must watch for Boman Irani's performance.

Listen... Amaya (2013)

What a movie..its a must watch!

For me its a 10 on 10. 'Listen..Amaya' what a great concept. Beautiful story, lovely direction, brilliant performances. Farooq Sheikh especially is at his charming best. Story is about 3 people, Leela (Deepti Naval), Jayant (Farooq Sheikh) and Amaya (Swara Bhaskar). Leela(in her 50s) is Amaya's (in her 20s) mother. Leela lost her husband when Amaya was very young. Jayant (in his 60s may be) is Leels's friend and Amaya is also fond of Jayant. Amaya is a 'free spirited modern young girl' (as Leela puts it in the movie), who is open minded and outspoken. Leela and Jayant are very comfortable in each other's company and eventually fall for each. When Leela tells Amaya that she desires to spend her life with Jayant, Amaya flips out. Amaya thinks and openly admits that it will be so embarrassing for her to confront her friends if Leela marries Jayant. The movie is about how they sort out things after that.

I loved the movie, we should have more movies like these. What this gem of a movie conveys is that everyone is entitled to have a companion, irrespective of their age, no matter how embarrassing it may be for their children. And our "modern" generation which claims to hate "hypocrisy" is also "hypocritical" when it comes to matters that involve them.

I look forward to more movies like these. This is the kind of movie that opens our mind. We the "younger generation" This is a fantastic movie that is a must watch for all movie lovers. I would recommend this for people of all age groups.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013)

Its a fun Movie, with fantastic music.

I loved the movie for several reasons:

1. Ranbir, Kalki and Aditya have acted very well. Deepika's acting is not as captivating as that of Ranbir's or Kalki's or Aditya's.

2. Music is great. Very cool and very hummable.

3. Overall its a feel good movie.

4. Direction is good.

5. The places where the movie is shot are all so gorgeous.

I wouldn't compare it to 'Dil Chahta Hai' (DCH) or the likes of DCH. Its just another movie which happens to have friends with issues that you can relate to.

So my suggestion will be "Watch it for fun, don't try to make any sense out of it." If you do that you will also love it as much :)

Raanjhanaa (2013)

I would not watch it again

I did not like the movie a bit. Sonam looks very pretty throughout the movie but she has got to work on her acting skills. Dhanush is adorable. For me, its Abhay Deol who totally steals the show. Not to forget Dhanush's friends in the movie, Swara Bhaskar (Bindiya) and Murari (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub). Both of them were brilliant.

I failed to understand why what were they trying to show. Dhanush is madly in love with Sonam, and can go to any length to make her happy. Sonam and Abhay love each other, and Sonam convinces Dhanush to help her to get married to Abhay..wow..is that possible?? And seriously how many times can actors possibly cut their wrists in a less than 3 hours long movie?? The answer is 3 (Dhanush cuts his wrist twice and Sonam once).

Abhay dies after being beaten up by Sonam's folks because he poses to be a Muslim (because Sonam is a Muslim), Sonam holds Dhanush guilty of it, because Dhanush disclosed the fact that Abhay is a non-Muslim. Dhanush then begs for Sonam's forgiveness and at the end even Dhanush dies.

Sonam uses Dhanush throughout the movie.

I wasted my time and money on this movie.

Cocktail (2012)

First half is nice and fresh. Second half is the regular Bollywood stuff.

First half of 'Cocktail' : Super fun, 2 Best friends (Deepika and Diana) and a guy (Saif) have fun, joke, do silly stuff, make the audience laugh. Concept looks fresh, Deepika are Saif like each other, live in together, sleep with each other, have fun, neither is interested in a commitment. I thought I could watch this movie over and over again.

Second half : Hopeless, very typical Bollywood Love Triangle. The guy falls for the 'Desi' girl. why?? This could have been a cult movie, with such good looking people who suited their characters so well. The music was fantastic.

Performances : All 3 (Deepika, Saif and Diana) have acted well. Saif was extremely funny at times and no one could have pulled off the character of Veronica as well as Deepika did.

I would have loved the movie if Saif would have fallen for the Deepika (the girl who parties and drink and has fun).

Bollywood is yet to get over the good/Desi girl and bad girl concept.

Its definitely a one time watch.

Joggers' Park (2003)

Brilliant performances and a Good movie.

It is a very good movie. Victor Banerjee, Perizaad Zorabian, Divya Dutta and others were all very good. This is a tasteful treat, no melodrama, no junk, just a clean tasteful movie which is very well directed. Screenplay is good and the performances make each character so believable. Perizaad is half of Victor's age, but they both fall for each other. Or as they say in the movie "You don't fall but rise in love". This can happen to anyone. This is something so natural, and the Director and Story writer have beautifully handled something so delicate. In a normal case, I would have hated Victor's character for cheating on his wife, but at no point in the movie did I feel even slightly upset with him. Its a very good movie.

Tere Bin Laden (2010)

Its hilarious..watch it whenever you find time!!

'Tere Bin Laden' is an out and out comedy that will make you start rolling on the floor laughing. And its so fresh and clean, by clean I mean no cheap double meaning humor. They have not tried to add too many extra things to the movie, like a love angle. So there are no unnecessary deviations in this super duper comedy movie. The direction and screenplay is very good. Abhishek Sharma (the writer-director of this fantastic movie) sure need a special mention, Hats off.Ali Zafar is charming and funny as usual. Pradhuman Singh, the actor who acted as 'Osama' has also done a great job. All the other supporting actors were also very good. This is one of those movies that you can watch again and again. Pace of the movie is maintained well. This is one of the best Comedy movies I have seen. I would suggest this movie to everyone. Everything from the poster to the concept is funny. I loved it, this one you shouldn't miss.

Mumbai Matinee (2003)

Such a waste of talent..disappointing.

This is mainly about a 32 years old virgin, who is desperate to prove his "manhood" (yes that's what they keep saying again and again in the movie). The humor is cheesy. How can this movie be called comedy? This movie has no taste at all. Its over dragged. After watching this movie I started to wonder why would seasoned actors like Rahul Bose, Perizaad Zorabian, Vijay Raaz and Saurabh Shukla act in a movie which has such a weak script. Can't believe this movie came from the director of Jogger's Park. Direction is not bad. I would not suggest this movie to anyone. There are a very very few funny moments in the movie, you can actually count them on your fingers. Disappointed.

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya (2012)

Fun movie..watch it.

Honestly, I didn't have any high expectations of this movie. A friend of mine suggested that I watch it, and the movie turned out to be a thorough entertainer. Its hilarious. P.S. Don't try to make any sense out of the story, its an out and out comedy movie, but not in any way a dumb one. Though there are no performances in the movie that are worth boasting. The chemistry between the lead pair is really sweet :). This is a light hearted movie. The pace at which the movie progresses is good. There are very very few dull moments in the movie. Almost all songs are nice and hummable. If you are in mood for a light hearted comedy, watch 'Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya', its a good one!!

English Vinglish (2012)

Its a feel good movie. Sridevi is superb in the movie. I would say please watch it.

This is fabulous movie. Its a feel good or rather I'd say an inspirational one. Makes one realize don't let your weakness get the better of you.

Sridevi (Shashi) has performed remarkably well. Brilliant performance. The French guy, Laurent is adorable.

All of us have known at least one 'Shashi' in life. This movie very subtly broadens your perspective on quite a lot of issues, like marriage, being able to speak English, and other things, without being too rebellious.

I loved it, and I would recommend this is everyone.

Ferrari Ki Sawaari (2012)

Brilliant performances, Nice but a little long movie.

I loved the movie. It was funny, entertaining, emotional, light hearted.

I would have loved it even more had the second half of the movie been a little shorter. But nevertheless, its a family movie apt to be watched with family on a lazy Sunday afternoon. They have tried to put a lot of things together in a single movie, and the people behind the movie have done a fantastic job of making it all come seamlessly together.

The child actor has done a very good job. The concept is good, the direction is great. Only let down is the second half which is little impractical and dramatic unlike the relatable first half.

The family dynamics can actually be felt. Brilliant performances by the lead actors.

I wouldn't call it a must watch, though a movie is easily a 8/10.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008)

Its a good movie

This storyline is nice, so is the idea. But there are some ignorable flaws in the direction like when Shahrukh brings his bride home and lifts the suitcase, one can easily tell that it is an empty one. But then again they have paid so much attention to details, like the usage of 'yellow' color in every possible way. The chemistry between the lead pair is good nothing over the top. Shahrukh's character is extremely sweet and lovable.

My suggestions: 1. Watch this movie when you are feeling hopelessly romantic. 2. Don't watch it keeping DDLJ in mind, DDLJ is beyond comparison.
