The Locket (1946)

Noir? Nah.

Caught this on TCM Noir Alley. No fan of Noir I was close to passing this up. Watched the very beginning and was hooked by the story. Nothing noir like but an interesting psychological drama and worth the price to see the mother of Joan Fontaine and Oliivia Haviland who I was unaware of in movies.

A Town Like Alice (1956)

Strange that I never saw this before today on TCM. I mentioned Tenko in headline because there is a great deal of similarity between the two. The women of Tenko, the television series and this movie bear some similarities. Tenko has a better chance to flesh out the women and their captors. The men are not so much a part of the movie but appear occasionally, as do the children and natives. This is a decent film but I prefer Tenko if you have the time.

Massine was instantly recognizable but I was unfamiliar with the other principal dancers. A very nice short from Warner Brothers on TMC.

One of my all time favorites. This and Tenko are must see T.V. And should be watched in a great big gulp. Entire cast of both shows are brilliant as is writing.

Inherit the Wind (1960)

Film downgraded by religious zealots which is sad

Two wonderful actors, great direction and an excellent supporting cast yet the religious zealots, who are being addressed in this film,again come out on the attack. In their childlike reviews they fail to talk about the merits of the film or lack of such but rather are offended by the subject matter. This is exactly why the film remains pertinent in 2017. Interesting subject matter true but brilliant actors who are past their prime and can still act circles around many. I also was taken with the women of the movie. Very fine acting.
