That '90s Show: That '90s Pilot (2023)
Not entirely convinced by the new cast yet
The pilot of the sequel series to that 70's show is at it's strongest when the original cast is on the screen. It really reminds you that one of the reasons the original series was such a hit was because of the incredible casting & chemistry.
There are some really nice nods to the original series in this first episode as well that you will catch if you've ever rewatched that 70's show.
My only concern is that the new characters weren't very fun to watch so far. I found a lot of their lines / jokes a little cheap and I really didn't like how they made Ozzie nothing more than the stereotypical "sassy" gay cliche. Hoping they get stronger as the series goes on.
Kaleidoscope: Green: 7 Years Before the Heist (2023)
Start here!
If you were wondering where to begin, Green is a perfect episode to start this fascinating mini series.
This episode shows most of the main characters at their earliest chronology (7 years before the heist) bar one other episode which takes place 17 years prior (Violet) - however, that episode is clearly not meant to be an opener, where as Green fits for many reasons.
It gives you a great first impression of the main cast of Leo, Stan, Judy & Bob. Leo is also given some bad news which can be very relevant for the entire series and can help the story come full circle depending on which episode you watch last. The story for this episode in particular also wraps up very nice and the words spoken at the end are a great hooker for the rest of the series.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
One of the greatest sequels ever
Everything you could want out of a sequel and more. The protagonist has matured greatly and looks even cooler. A whole cast of new characters who are a joy to watch grow and learn. You get to see a whole other side of Pandora never explored before and the visuals (especially in IMAX-3D) are so immersive it truly feels like you are spending time on this fictional world. Even the villain has more added depth to him this time around making some of the relationships in this film super complex and interesting. All of the new lore is super enriching from the new species, to the new locations etc. And the range of emotions this film takes you through is truly inspirational.
If you liked the original you will love the sequel.
