Sidney Hall (2017)
I agree with the critics.
This film can only be judged great by someone who has not seen good films.
If you are used to mediocre films and like them, then you may like this.
The acting is fine during the portrayal of teenagers,
but completely unconvincing in the scenes in which the young actors attempt to provide the characters with growth and more sophistication.
One critic said it felt like watching children play house and I completely agree.
I was never convinced of any misunderstood genius in any of the actors.
At best it felt like someone looking to tell a tragic story who had never experienced trauma of any significance.
I'd say skip this one unless you are terribly lacking in any other choice of distraction.
Dennis Miller: Fake News, Real Jokes (2018)
He's always brilliant, but...
I have always appreciated DM's humor and intellect, but I have trouble understanding such a narrow view of the US political atmosphere by someone with the ability to see through the BS in so many other situations. I can laugh at jokes aimed at both political poles, but it leaned right by a lot. Somehow he manages to direct his distaste more toward Bill and Hillary than the Administration From Hell in office now. Unbelievable. And it makes me wonder when he last listened to any news outside the views of Fox News or am talk radio. He makes arguments with misinformation to back his points and the audience seems oblivious. I laughed some but it was disappointing overall.
