The Little Mermaid (2023)
Not as bad ad expected
It's not as bad as I expected... But, since it's the little marmaid, im the opener of the Disney-Renaissance one of those movies I grew up with, I kind of feel betrayed. It's too long, the new songs are mediocre and Flounder as well as Sebastian are hideous. Nevertheless it's a good, solid movie: good camera work, CGI as well as character Animations are actually amazing and I like the fact that they added some detailed information, for example the one why Triton hates humans as I never understood why. Ariel herself is actually good acting, however not food looking, but that's just my opinion. My favorite character is Ursula - very well played in my point of View and a good Meilsa Mccarty.
To sun it up: they could have make it better but also worst, so o stick with 5/10.
Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers (2022)
I didn't expect much
I really didn't expect much, but as a 80ies kid and 90ies teen this moche just made my heart bounce. Hundreds of cameos and easter eggs... Amazing what they did there the story was fun too...As a 41 year old father I laughed more than my kids...
I Care a Lot (2020)
What's wrong
I don't see what's wrong about this move. The characters are not that bad, sure, the story is somehow predictable, but it's fun and I really like the fact that no one is really likeable.
Water for Elephants (2011)
I didn't know....
When I first read about this film I was Like "...nah". I watched it anyway and I just loved it. The performance is excellent, the whole setting is authentic ans the best ia the character buildings. I really enjoy this movie, for me it's quite underrated.
The Call of the Wild (2020)
When I saw ...
When I saw the poster I was: yeahy looks good. When I saw the trailer I was like "what the hell is this cgi stuff?" Then I saw the movie and I was actually surprised how good it was. I understood why they used cgi and although it still was recognized as cgi I accepted it and just enjoyed the story which is an actually very good and heart warming one.
Its a very, very good family movie! Enjoy it and feel good (and also a little depressed) after it
Ghostbusters (2016)
Re-watching
I rewatched it 4 years after it came out and all the hate was already forgotten. Of course, as an 80ies child the original Ghostbusters is still number one for me, but to be fair: it's actually not that bad once you see it as a complete standalone film, with the eyes of someone who doesnt know the original. my kids, who have not seen the original actually enjoyed it and laughed a lot.
Guess as a parent I have to face the fact that I just got old and movies I loved as a child are not loved by younger generations that much ... We, the older ones, have to accept that times change and that younger generations just have other things they may like, we may stick to our favorite ones but also let new versions come for other generations without hate. Just because it's not my taste and just because the original will always be in my heart doesn't mean that new things are that bad. That's why I changed my original rating from 4 to 7.
Cats (2019)
This is one of the best...
Damn, this was one of the best musical spoofs I've ever seen. I literally laughed so hard, i couldn't catch breath. Good job!
This is by far the most grotesque thing I've seen, and I've seen a lot of sick movies
Askeladden: I Dovregubbens hall (2017)
Enjoyable
I never head if it before, but when I rented it on amazon for the kids I was surprised by a pretty fun and good movie. Although this movie is considered suitable for kids if age 6 and up I kind of found it's a little bit too scary.. nevertheless, since my kids are uses to even scarier movies, they say through it.
The scenery and the overall feeling reminded me of "Willow" or "Ronja". Pretty good acting (well, at least what you can tell from a dubbed version), good special effects and good directing. Amazing Norwegian Landscapes...
