Histoire de Marie et Julien (2003)
Like watching paint dry in slow motion on a black and white TV with a bad reception
This film is excruciating Dull I am in love with Emmanuel Beart and that is the only reason I watched this leaden film to the end and even then I had to use the fast forward button numerous times. There is one scene lasting 10 minutes where absolutely nothing happens... a man cuts some bread brushes the floor looks at a cat scratches his nose..... call me a Philistine but that is just self indulgent arty farty widdle. And there are numerous other scenes of people opening doors going in to rooms looking out windows mending clocks
cut this Film in half and you lose no character development no plot turns
I'm looking forward to the Producers cut the directors cut has an extra 90 Min's of a man ironing his clothes
Blastfighter (1984)
Best Bad Film About a gun and a half EVER!!!!!
This has got to be one of the best bad films i have ever seen. The plot is atrocious. It starts of with an ex cop out to avenge the murders of his wife. he meets an old buddy from the force who gives him... BLASTFIGHTER.. the gun with a million different uses...spray of darts armour piercing explosive tips etc.. etc The hero gets into position to kill the crooked lawyer who got his wife's killer off, he has him in his sights but doesn't shoot. Instead he drives off into a cabin in the hills to think things over, the film doesn't return to this incident it just sort of forgets all about the need for vengeance and turns into a deliverance meets Rambo type hodge podge. In the end he kills about 30 or 40 redneck hunter types because one of them killed a little dear he saved when they killed the dears mother, oh and i think they might have killed his best friend raped his daughter and killed her boyfriend though i can't really remember. He drives into the town at then end in his pick up with all the dead bodies in the back and a whole lot of explaining to the authorities...this was the days of Rambo and death wish where multiple homicides were common place and he probably got let off with a fine..I bought this movie for 50p years ago at a video clear-out store and used to watch at all the time,it had a cult following amongst me and my friends until the tape nipped and we ceremoniously burned it.
The Final Cut (2004)
visually interesting though incoherent and silly
This was a major let down. While visually interesting the film was let down by the ridiculous overall concept.... why for instance did Williams friends treat him with such contempt when they found out he had a Zoe thingy ? these people work with them all day and are somehow disgusted when asked to perform a living memory recall..... and that entire scene was sooo hackneyed "weve only done this once before and the woman is now in a coma" or whatever, Williams of course is fine apart from falling off his chair like hes been hit by lightning. the main problem with the movie is its very premise...why would ANYONE want ALL their memories to be viewed at a later date by the ones they love?? even worse, viewed by a total stranger in the cutting room... This is only touched on briefly and swept under the carpet for the rest of the movie a throw-away line tells about a young girl who finds out she has a memory implant, changes her behaviour from tearaway to saint then kills herself.... It reminded me somewhat of equilibrium another anti future scenario that doesn't stand up to scrutiny... ask one or two basic questions about either alternative reality and they fall apart like a house of cards
