Knives Out (2019)
Finally a good murder solving movie
This movie is just amazing. I went to the movie last night to watch a golden globe norminee movie with low expectation due to Rian Johnsons last movie (Star Wars: The last Jedi). I was so happy that the movie didn't disappoint. It was just an amazing experiance.
The cast in this movie was perfect. I loved Christopher Plummer role as a old, rich man (the head of the family). That role reminded me of "All the money in the world". Jamie Lee Curtis, Tony Collette, Michael Shannon and Don Johnson had minor roles but played them just fine. It was nice to watch Chris Evans playing another character than Captain America.
The stars of the movie were Ana de Armes and Daniel Craig. Ana de Armes played the nurse to Christopher Plummers character "Harlan Trombey" and did a hell of a good job. She was so real and had alot of emotions. Ana de Armes definitely deserves a oscar norminee for actress in a supporting role. Daniel Craig aka James Bond played a detective who was hired to solved the murder mystery. I liked his character but didn't like his southern american accent. I like how he can play other roles than James Bond (i was a big fan of his role in Logan Lucky)
To conclude this review: Ana de Armes did a really good job as did Daniel Craig. Rian Johnson wrote and directed a really good crime movie. This movie deserves some golden globes wins.
The House That Jack Built (2018)
Disturbing movie made by a sick Director
I've have just seen Lars "von" Triers latest movie in the Theater and Ilm not impressed at all. The movie is full of meaningless slaughter and violence and portrai it like art
The movie is devided in 5 scenes "incidence" where you watch Matt Dillons character Jack kill people and photograph them in diffrent positions.
This becomes more and more gross for each scene you watch. I had to go after the fourth scene because it was to disturbing to watch.
The way Lars von Trier tells the story is boring and the only way he can get people to go to the Theater is with slaughter and violence.
In the movie he compares violence with art and classic music and normalize Jacks behavious duo to the fact that he has mental problems (ODC and insane cleaning problems). Jacks character minds me of the directors mental problems and I cannot understand that people rate this movie so much.
In the end I find the movie meaningless, disturbing and waste of time. The only reason I give this movie 3 stars is Matt Dillons performance.
Remember (2015)
A demented Jew whos past hunts him
At the beginning of the movie we watch a jew living at a nursing home. His name is Zev Guttman and he is 88 years old. His wife has just pased away from cancer and suddenly his friend at home Max want him to do a job for him. His job is to find the man who killed their family at Auschwitz. The man is hidden behind the name Rudi Kurlander and his real name is Otto Weismann. Zev travels across USA and Canada to visit the men who goes by the name Rudi Kurrlander. Zev visits four men living in both Canada and USA. This movie is really emotional at the ending when the main character finds out that he were a security guard at Auschwitz and have never been a Jewish prisoner. He is so frustrated that he first kills the real Rudi Kuurlander and then himself. The movie ends with Max exposing that he all along knew that Zev and Otto were his guards at Auschwitz.
