I was not a film buff until I saw this movie for the first time when it first came out and I was 13 years old. Having already been a Tolkien fan, this was just a dream come true and I genuinely couldn't have asked for a better visual representation of these stories... it truly had a massive impact on me and my passion for filmmaking. Unfortunately, I find myself sick and incapacitated for a large percentage of my life and watching this trilogy along with The Hobbit at least once a week to help keep me sane (but usually multiple times a week) and I swear I still find new things to appreciate eeeeevery time I watch the Extended Editions and The Appendices. If I was only allowed to watch ONE film for the rest of my life I would argue that this trilogy is all one story and pray they let me choose it!
