Land of the Giants: Genius at Work (1969)
Clothing?
How come they have to find clothing when they grow but not when they shrink back to normal (small) size. The story is very interesting otherwise. The dog of course doesn't wear clothing so he doesn't need to be concerned about clothing. Since the growth and shrinkage is controlled by ingested substances it doesn't affect the clothing. It was fun to see Ron Howard in a new role as the inventor of the growth substance and it's antidote. The growth wafer is right out of Alice in Wonderland, although in Alice the clothing shrinks or grows with the person (more magical than scientific). I prefer the scientific explanation.
The Time Tunnel: Pirates of Deadman's Island (1967)
Totally hoakey.
There are so many things wrong with this episode. The Barbary pirates were not like the pirates of the Spanish Main. First of all they were sponsored by the Muslim governments of North Africa. Secondly, they were not English speaking with English names. They were Arabic, Moorish or Turkish speaking with Muslim names. As for the king of Spain, he was busy fighting to drive Napoleon out of Spain.
The islands of the Mediterranean were not like the islands of the Caribbean. They were dryer and much less tropical.
One interesting thing, in reference to Philadelphia, one of the United States ships that participated in the Barbary Coast campaign was the USS Philadelphia.
Early Edition: Where or When (1998)
Factual error:
When they find the old newspaper, they comment that it was from 1944. However, the headline refers to Roosevelt's historic fourth inauguration which was in January of 1945.
