Rob zombie rip off?
30 January 2024
Not to say I don't enjoy the show but the similarities to "the haunted world of el superbeasto" are undeniable.

Both are awesome and it's not a criticism, it's just a shame that zombies movie didn't get the shame praise just because it was released 15 years earlier.

Story is great, animation is beautiful and humour hits the mark.

Anyone enjoying this needs to check out el superbeasto and thank me later haha.

Glad to see this type of humour finally see success. Cant wait for new episodes and will be recommending to everyone.

Here's hoping the hype train keeps going and it sends an audience to both pieces of media.

Entertaining
17 August 2021
For fans of AHS, this show is a nice filler while we wait for the new season. It by no means as good as the first 4 seasons or AHS but if you're someone that found entertainment in the later seasons then you may as well give this a go. If just the first 2 episode as they're based in murder House so it's worth watching for the Easter eggs alone.

You can easily watch AHS without this, but if you're looking for something similar in the meantime, give it a go :)

Quite disappointed..
1 February 2014
So I don't want to rant too much about this movie, for fear for spoiling it for other people, but I would like to review it before losing my train of thought lol. Normally I would roll my eyes at the thoughts of another revenge slasher, but considering how pleasantly surprised I was with anna- lynne's last horror 'excision', I thought I'd give this a fair chance. Don't get me wrong, excision is not for the faint of heart, but it's so odd and so well thought, that I couldn't help but like it. It was great to see an actress who is fresh out of 90210, help give a name to slightly 'out-of-sorts' horror movies. Unfortunately I can't say the same about this movie, as much as I was looking toward to it, the disappointment was unavoidable. Aside from the main couple, the acting was terrible, along with the low- budget gore and special effects. The plot of very unrealistic, getting worse as it went on and along with the terrible camera work, it was almost unwatchable at times.

I tried to like this movie, tried and failed. If your thinking of watching this movie because you like anna-lynne, in-particular horrors with anna-lynne, I wouldn't waste your time. It's low budget nonsense, so much lower than her capabilities.

Pleasantly surprised

Warning: Spoilers
OK so I'm not entirely sure if this review contains spoilers but I thought I'd warn just in case. I'd read reviews and heard from a lot from people that this remake wasn't up to scratch, so as much as I tried not be, I was a little disappointed before I'd even watched it. But it didn't take long for that to change, thanks to little details that I think even the original was slightly lacking on. For example, the principle is exactly how I'd imagined when I was reading the book, as small a part as it was, I was even more pleased with him than I was watching the original. It sounds like just a small detail, but I think true fan of the book and the original will really appreciate that they've went to the lengths they did to find the perfect balance between the book, the original film and the modern day.

Without giving away too much, I loved the use of technology and social media in the movie, as much as it strays from the original, I was glad they'd taken that step towards relating to a newer generation. Also the soundtrack was quite recent, but alternative enough for it not to take the edge and almost 'grodiness', that the original had, away.

Ofcoarse it isn't going to have the tense simplicity that 70's & 80's horror had, because nowadays we are not very patient and as much as it is part of the charm of older movies, we cannot get away with those sorts of drawn out frights anymore. So I wasn't surprised by the added special effects and gore that the original strayed from, however I was quite happy with the way they'd went about it, it's bloody enough that you get your fix, but not so gruesome that you think you've accidentally walked into final destination.

So before I write a review so long no one could be bothered reading it, I wanna finish by saying I was pleasantly surprised at how well the casting worked out and that It'd be hard to think of people better suited now that I've seen what they done with their roles.

If you like the original and the book, give it a go anyway, you might be as pleasantly surprised as I was. If you haven't seen or read either, what have you got to lose? It's traditionally modern enough to satisfy everyone I think!
