Springsteen & I (2013)
Very good
As a big Boss music fan, especially of his earlier stuff, I was looking forwards to seeing this film. I thought it had some great moments and I really enjoyed hearing stories from a variety of people who, like me have really felt a deep sense of connection from the music of Bruce Springsteen. Great stories, great concert footage, really glad I did not miss it. Perhaps it could have been edited better or something in places and I also felt it was also a little bit creepy at some points. But overall it was touching and well worth watching and great for anybody who wants to experience the excitement of the Boss concerts, but never did before. Overall there are many classic tales over the years, and it's an amazing insight into the devotion of Bruce's loyal fan base.
All Is Lost (2013)
Amazing
Amazing movie, it's really kind of 2013's version of "Cast Away". Robert Redford stars as a man who is lost out at sea and is fighting for his life. It's like a silent movie, so maybe it's not for everyone. There is only 2 lines of dialog throughout the entire movie. He yells a little at the beginning and at the end. But it really didn't need any dialog to keep my attention. If you think about it, not many movies can hold our attention with a single actor as its star, and in this day and age movies are filled with so many explosions, and action sounds. In "All is Lost" there are no killer whales, pirates, or crazy sea monsters. This is a one man show about just one man on his boat who is facing his own mortality, and doing whatever he can to overcome crazy storms, the elements and the many mishaps he faces during his journey
I would say that Robert Redford is absolutely amazing here. For a man of 77, he gives one of his best performances ever. Period. If you want to see something a little different, I would watch this movie
Pink: Staying True (2013)
Fantastic
FANTASTIC! I really enjoyed watching this Pink documentary. It's a really great portrayal about one of the greatest performers of all time. It made me smile in a few places too. It was really cool. There is so little out there on this amazingly talented pop artist.
To be fair Pink gets a bit of praise but nowhere near the amount she deserves. Pink is a leader in her field. Her style is so different from other styles and trends and for this alone she should be praised, yet there is not enough. I feel the problem is the credit goes to the old faithfuls Madonna, Beyonce and Britney etc. Artists like Pink that are trying to give us people out here something different, these artists are the ones that should be given the credit. Lets be totally honest here. Who needs the Miley's of the world? I would rather look up to Pink than any other celebrity out there. She's smart, caring, aware of the issues faced by us normal people and not caught up in the celebrity business. I am totally in awe of her, her music and her strength of character, she motivates me. Pink keep up the good work girl, there are many more people such as myself out here waiting to support you every step of the way. There really should be more films like this made about her. I really enjoyed the old archived interviews from when Pink was first starting out, I hadn't seen quite a few of them, so it was really interesting to watch and I'm just so glad that she's back and more rebellious than ever. This is well worth a watch if like me you love Pink.
