Reverse the Curse (2023)

The theatre was buzzing throughout

I was lucky enough to catch this movie at the Glasgow film festival. The basic story is an estranged son comes back into his fathers life after a cancer diagnosis. It sounds like it could be a little depressing, quite the opposite. It has many light hearted moments,and some down right hilarious ones. The theatre was laughing practically throughout the entire movie. David & Logan have great chemistry and work well as the father son duo with a matching sarcastic humour. The more dramatic scenes are brilliant too, they appear more toward the end. The movie has a lot to offer, I laughed, I cried, I left the cinema completely satisfied. A Beautifully charming heart warming little movie. Well done to David for the great writing, and Logan Marshall-Green for always delivering a steller performance .

Honestly the worst movie I have ever seen!

I watched this because of the high score, I will never trust movie scores again. This movie is totally pointless, I actually sat through this yawn fest hoping for some kind of conclusion. Nothing. I will never get those 100 minutes back. The idea that the thing they were running from can just be killed with a bullet, then come back, and what was that pool scene?? The final "entity" is some old dude in boxers? This concept is about as scary as playing chasing in an old folks home. Avoid this movie at all costs, no scares, no twists, no script, no conclusion, no point!!! TRASH! TRASH!! TRASH!!!!

Guys, I like an artsy fartsy movie as much as the next person but this movie takes it too far. I can also have lots of patience with a slow paced movie, but again, this went too far. The acting was flat, the storyline pointless, and the camera work is shakey at best. I feel like this is the kind of movie people say that they like, just to seem like a movie buff, when really there is nothing on offer here. This role is ok for keanu whos acting talent is limted, but river is wasted here. If there was a 0 rating I would give it that, because the 1 point is given for no reason at all. A time waste.

Whats not to love?

This movie is a complete original. The director really had a fantastic idea and exacuted it perfectly. The chase scenes are a total thrill and the action shoot out scenes being timed with the music is so fun to watch. Ansel Elgort was perfect for the role with his history in musical theatre, he carrys the movie really well. And the fact that his name is baby and he looks like a 6ft baby is a lucky fit. This movie has both style and substance which is super rare. I am really hoping they release a sequel for this, I would like to see how their story ends. Edgar wrights best work to date for sure.

This movie is not going to blow anyone away, but it will keep you generally entertained for a few hours. I dont think the movie is as bad as people are saying, not every movie needs to be 100% realistic. The star of the show for me is Logan Marshall-Green who plays Philip. He is a scene stealer in every movie he is in, and this is no exception. He is the only actor in the movie that conveys true emotions,welling up in a great scene between him and his daughter ,in other scenes totally losing his temper .He is the only thing in the movie to keep you on the edge on your seat. Great actor,underrated.
