The Dollanganger Saga: Petals on the Wind (2014)
Season 1, Episode 2
3/10
Over glamorized soap opera
1 September 2018
Yes I agree a hollow adaption of a cult classic novel. Over glamorized soap opera. Even if your a fan of the book series as I am. You will find this production a disappointment. Yes it gives you a great visual of Petals in the wind. Yet it seems that Ellen Burstyn, Rose McIver and Wyatt Nash are carrying the entire weight of this production on their shoulders with all the rest merely background performers. You don't get to know them at all. The relation between Jillian and Cathy or Cathy and Bart This production is rushed, churned out and really does have the feel and look of Young and the Restless Episode. Bailey De Young and Heather Graham to paraphrase Connie in FITA "we're just ornaments" Who ever wrote dialogue and script should be flogged by Olivia's whip. I gave Lifetimes FITA a 6. But not Petals in the Wind.

The Dollanganger Saga: Flowers in the Attic (2014)
Season 1, Episode 1
6/10
Nicely done effort but fails to achieve lift off.
1 September 2018
Cinematography and staging above par. That's about all there is to say that stands out about this movie, Though the film remains more faithful to the book then its previous 1987 incarnation The acting and characters fail to connect to heart strings of the viewer which was not the case with 1987 version. Ellen Burstyn's character comes across as just a crabby grandmother type Heather Graham seems much more a older sister to Cathy then her Mother, Christopher as effeminate and Kienman Shipka as intellectual tomboyish figure just going along the ride waiting for her ending. Though faithful to book in a lot of ways and Cinematography above par. There just isn't the feel of dread and other emotional stirrings you got from the book or 1987. You don't connect with the characters in this one. Instead they are just there doing their acting bit. Though Ellen Burstyn's character in this film is flat due too direction and writing Ellen Burstyn's performance reflects a honed actor at her finest; acting royalty.

This movie will haunt you the rest of your life.
27 August 2018
I agree people attacking this movie are way to harsh. I saw this in 1987 when it came out and yes even though it's not the book. It's better actually! This movie alone and the emotions it brings out has haunted me since 1987. These four kids should have gotten an Oscar. I can't bare to watch It more then once a year. For the emotions its brings out are just too overwhelming. If you want a movie that will haunt you for years this version of Flowers in the Attic will do just that. An if your a sensitive person be warned its emotionally rough. I'm very glad I saw it though for such a emotionally moving movie like this is rare.

Cold Case: Daniela (2004)
Season 2, Episode 3
10/10
Hauntingly powerful and thought provoking.
22 March 2014
If you collect television crime drama episodes this one is for you! A must have. One of the most powerfully moving and thought provoking stories and dramas I have yet seen in a cop drama. Haunts even to this day in 2014. It will cause you emotions, thought provoking and re-examination of them as relating to topic of the main character Daniela a trans gender. Very realistic superb acting, setting and mood. It grips your attention from the beginning and doesn't let you go during the emotional roller coaster ride until the very end and leaves you haunted for years to come. Of all the Cold Case episodes ever produced this one is by far the very best. A must have to any collection pertaining the crime dramas.
