Junior Bake Off (2011)
Harry is Cringeworthy, beyond inappropriate
Episode 4, Season 7, 27:38 in, Harry Hill makes a disparaging remark that goes far beyond the pale. It left me shocked and feeling sick. I fully expected him to be fired after that, but I see he's part of season 8. Is the director oblivious? The producers? Why was that "joke" allowed to stand? It's poison.
I gave the show 6 stars because of Harry Hill.
I'm a big fan of all the British Bake off shows...and I watch all of them. In this version, the kids are amazing bakers, the hosts are kind and helpful, and the children help each other. In this divided world we need more kindness, not mean and stupid jokes.
Love Is Blind: Japan (2022)
Better than the US Version
I'm really enjoying this show. After watching the American version, with a number of backstabbing/egocentric people, it's refreshing to witness a culture in which the participants are respectful and supportive of each other--even when they have differences.
Watching this has given me insight into Japanese culture.
PS Having just watched the final episodes, I raised my rating from 8 stars to 9. The kindness and respect between couples and families is amazing and enlightening.
Beautiful Darling (2010)
Yeah. It was like this.
Candy was ahead of her time, and timeless. Living her dreams in a fast changing, and often hostile, world that never fully accepted or appreciated her. This film depicts the beauty and the squalor of the early 70's in NYC, the stark pain of a rebel and a pioneer, and ultimately the love required to tell her story.
Thank you, Jeremiah.
