Simulation Theory (2020)
How can a band be so good at everything.
Muse is my favourite band of all times. That might trick you into thinking that I'm biased, which I probably am, but objectively speaking: this is one helluva masterpiece! I'm so glad I get to know this band, and when they come out with material like this I can't feel anything else but gratitude towards them, because damn they are good! I'm lucky for I have seen them live twice, and the movie brought many memories back to me. Still, I would recommend this one to someone who doesn't know the band, 'cause it keeps you interested in the plot through the visuals, and obviously the amazing music. Matt, Chris, Dom (and Morgan) are pure geniuses!
A Ghost Story (2017)
One of the most beautiful films I've ever seen.
This movie talked to me in many levels, I really can't understand why people are giving it so low ratings. Sure, it is not one of the regular movies we see out there, there are many long scenes that seem to add nothing to the story, but as I say, it goes beyond what we can see. It is about the perception and contemplation of everyday moments. The movie IS about time and its power over us. Watch this movie without expecting anything, you might be surprised about what you can find in yourself after doing it. btw, this is not a horror movie, so you're obviously not gonna like it if you expect to get scared... in that sort of way.
Dark (2017)
Enjoy the ride!
I really don't know what else to say about this show taht hasn't been said yet, but I just finished it and I somehow feel guilty about not having watched it before. My only recommendations though would be not to binge it. I'm actually contradicting myself on this because that's exactly what I'm going to do when season 3 airs, because I really need to see where everything is going! But seriously, it is so important to savour every tiny detail. This show is magnificent and you can tell that it was made with love and dedication. This is what a masterpiece looks like.
Mr. Robot: Hello, Elliot (2019)
A very intimate and personal conclusion
I don't think I have ever seen television done in such way, the finale was amazing, it completely changed my way of seeing things in life, but personally I'm more astonished as to see how I live in the exact period of time in which masterpieces like this could be seen on simple television. What an honor it was to watch something like this, and to be part of it in a very personal, intimate way. I'm proud of everyone involved in Mr Robot, it was clearly made with such passion and love, it is very noticeable how every single soul who worked in it really understood what the show was about, and what its impact was going to be for everyone watvhing. Thank you, Sam, I'm in so much debt to you for allowing me to watch this masterpiece.
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
I had great expectations about this...
Never thought I'd hate a Star wars movie, I'm very open minded when it comes to this trilogy, though many people have disliked the previous ones I have enjoyed them so far. But this one is just not right, I truly felt embarrased of it. For starters, I have to state that I have no issues with the characters, I actually like them at all, but this movie just wasted their potential and threw away anything interesting that could have added something more to the story. But they chose to go the easy way and fill up the movie with cliches and nostalgia. I'm okay with the last thing, since mostly the whole new trilogy has used nostalgia as a factor, probably to call old fans attention. But what is the necessity of keep bringing back old characters that already died? I mean, Luke and Han had amazing last scenes, just let them be already for Vader's sake. The cliche part is easier to explain, the kiss, Hux being the spy, and the last act being exactly the same as Avengers Endgame's ending. (was anyone not expecting that inmense amount of people showing up in the middle of the battle? like, unexpectedly?)
The movie is still... enjoyable, I think. But it was impossible for me not to focus on those "details" that made it unbearable. I am not that mad now, but instead I'm sad about the lame finale they gave to what could've been an amazing revival of the saga.
By the way, I really thought they would only bring Palpatine on a flashback or memory, BUT GOSH HOW COULD THEY REVIVE HIM! Is it that easy to just pick dead characters and bring them back just for the sake of it? with no logical explanation? damn, money does move this industry, what a shame.
