Scream 3 (2000)
scream trilogy
I have read a few comment on scream 1,2 or 3 and I just can't understand why people use terms like "excellent, amazing or best movie ever". Scream trilogy is one of the dumbest thing I ever saw. Even scary movie trilogy, who cannot be considered as very great,is much better to see. OK, I know that perhaps many people won't agree but here is my opinion. For me those movies are even not scary, it's just a bunch of teenagers playing to kill each other, what's the point of this ? The third one achieves to be one of the worst movies of all times, and I can easily understand why not even one of the trilogy appears in the top 250.
8MM (1999)
Schumacher's best work
In the list of my 10 preferred films 8MM occupies the fifth place. This film is simply perfect. To begin the music is excellent, it contributes to give an at the same time sad, strange and beautiful particular environment. Then the actors whose initially Nicolas Cage are all very talented, especially Joaquin Phoenix and James Gandolfini. The scenario writer Andrew Kevin Walker who had largely proved reliable with Se7en did an extraordinary work. But what I enjoyed me the most in this film it is that there is a morals. In its investigation Nicolas Cage tests each minute more and more compassion for the wildly assassinated young girl whom it ends up making the decision not only to find all the authors of the snuff but of all to kill them. That's what I call a hero. This film is not on violence or sadomasochism but on the punishment. If in the true life each time that a snuff is carried out all passed as in 8MM,it would be a large thing. For me it is the best film of Schumacher which is at all events one of the largest realizers of the world. 10/10
Salò o le 120 giornate di Sodoma (1975)
Not only disgusting but also totally boring
I have been reading some books of Sade that were interesting enough to make a picture of them, but surely this one isn't. In fact I'm ashamed that it's a french guy that wrote this insane story. I have heard that Pasolini was killed because he made the film, I don't know if it's true. When I saw the film I found it so bad made and so boring that I played it almost totally in fast forward without the sound. If someone offered me the DVD I would throw it in the garbage. If you want to see a beautiful critical of fascism you can take Schindler's list for example.
A few days ago a guy told me that he saw a women sodomized by a dog on internet. I told him " and you looked at it ? ". I don't understand how this kind of things are possible but it's the proof that human being is really perverse.
Fight Club (1999)
Fincher's masterpiece
When Fincher made se7en everybody was talking about it. I first thought that it was for Brad Pitt, but when I saw fight club I understood that this director was certainly one of the best of the world. Se7en was so brilliant but fight club was like an electric shock. I consider this film as my second favorite movie and the fact that I suffer from insomnia myself has everything to do with it. The film deserves a 10/10 only for Edward Norton's performance ( he's my favorite actor after Gary Oldman ). It is amazing to see the perfection of the movie even in the details like the clothes. The story goes so far up to the end which is enclosed by a great hit of Pixies, that it's a pleasure of every moment. I'm sorry my English is not so good.
Heat (1995)
best movie ever
For me it's the best movie ever made, not only because of the presence of two of the biggest stars ( De Niro and Pacino ) which are excellent in there roles, but also for the quality of the directing. I consider Michael Mann as a genius. It's impossible to deny that the cast is perfect, Ashley Judd has never been so beautiful and Tom Sizemore gives his best work to me. I know it's not a movie with a lot of special effects but I don't consider them as a criterion of perfection, I rather enjoy the quality of the story and the acting. I think we can consider this film as a modern opera. It's difficult to say what I mean without speaking in superlatives, I could see it a hundred times without being bored.
Quentin Tarantino has said : "A movie geek will dedicate his entire life for cinema, not for money, not for social position, not for anything other than the sheer love of it." Well so am I. American filmmakers are by far the best of the world, so I thank them !
