Mean Creek (2004)
A disappointment. Tried too hard.
thought it was average overall.
Positives:
The guy who played George did some great acting. Realistic language used between the 'kids', showed how harsh the language/relationship is between youth.
Negatives:
It felt 'amateurish'. The 'grieving' after George was killed..came across trying a little too hard to be 'arty'.The blonde girl in particular and the guy 'collapsing' next to Georges dead body!
I Didn't really care that George was dead and couldn't understand how they'd be really care THAT much about his death. He really wasn't that nice a person!
I can understand their worry about themselves getting in trouble etc, but not their actual grieving for the person , 'George'.
It just felt like it tried too hard to be artistic.
Wicker Park (2004)
Great movie ..recommended
Really loved this film.
Especially Rose Byrnes performance as Alex.
I think a few things probably turned people off this..before they saw it.
The cover of the DVD makes it look like some crappy love story. Also they should of had a more "respected" actor than josh hart nett in the lead. But definitely worth seeing.
It was quite an artistic and interesting film. Deserved better reviews and box office than what it got.
Didn't really think much of Diane Kruger.
Didn't realise you had to write 10 lines (minimum )on this thing.
You and Your Stupid Mate (2005)
Looks good, but is honestly CRAP
This has a couple of "laugh out loud" moments, but it really is a bad movie. It being an Australian movie, i tried to be a loss let critical.
Badly cast..Nathan Philip's was unbelievable and unfunny.Angus Sampson was OK, but not that funny either. It looked like it had a reasonable budget, for an Aussie flick, but it was majorly wasted into a lame script that tried WAY too hard.
It is one of those movies where you say at the end of it "well that was sh*t." It was almost as bad as "The Extra" and It made "Hating Alison Ashley" look like a masterpiece ( that film actually was better than expected).
Verdict:A complete waste of money and embarrassment to the film industry.
