One man show - Indrans
Even though every single character has done their part in this family drama, it's the head of family Indrans who holds it all together in this wonderful feel good film.
This movie gave a similar feeling which I had after watching kumblangi nights. Family and home are always imperfect but that's the only place where we can be ourselves. No need to hide anything like we do for the outside world.
It also shows how smartphones and gadgets have made our lives easier but also made us too distant emotionally while being below the same roof.
The movie will leave you in tears by the end because of how it relates to our daily life and shows what we have been missing all these days.
Thank you Rojin Thomas for such a wonderful movie experience.
Paagal (2021)
A fantastic Nivetha Pethuraj and some good music
A time pass no brainer movie with its few innovations and many silly scenes. However the title justifies it. The movie begins only after Nivetha entry. She is the only saving grace when it comes to performance. A better hero could have done justice to role "Paagal". Few songs were really good which keeps us from avoiding using the fast forward button. Watch it without any expectations and you might like it the same way I did.

Feels more like a movie than an anthology
1. Best scene
Vijayalakshmi's action sequence. Well choreographed and raw. Her physical strength is justified by previous sequences where she lifts heavy weights(cylinder) with ease and the way she carries her son all by herself to get his treatment. In one word she is a FIGHTER. One of the best roles she has done in a long time.
2. Casting
Except Venkat Prabhu every single character has done well. It is understandable that he is confused as to what's happening to him. However it looks too idiotic when he doesn't understand even when after he is convicted. His acting looked unnatural. Maybe someone else could have done justice to the role of a wrongly convicted person. He could have sticked to production alone in this one.
3. Chimbudevan
has done a decent movie after pulikesi. Even though it's a collection of different stories, the way it is connected makes us feel engaged and keeps us on edge. I dint feel this in the recent flurry of anthology films released in ott recently, Especially navarasa.
4. Dialogues were well written and apt to the script. Number of references to all living beings are equal and if we deserve to live then every single animal or bird deserves to live with proper food and shelter. This message gives a nice touch to the movie. There are few quirky dialogues which will make us laugh at unexpected moments.
5. Music was very good but at some places they feel too forced or was not needed. Like the song which keeps running in the background which could have been saved for the album.
There are few things which I couldn't understand like the use of different cameras or screen dimensions for two of the parts. Harish kalyan getting adopted so easily, etc maybe a second viewing would be required to understand them.
Kuruthi (2021)
Not a review
This is one of the best written screenplays of recent times. The movie not only manages to keep us engaged throughout, it also awakens something which had been dormant inside us.
Religion is something which is politicised for the sake of power and money. One of the characters in the movie keeps reminding folks around him about their economic status (being poor) and how being part of any religion is not going to change their situation even a bit.
The dialogues right through the movie keeps playing with our minds and in the end we are left wondering which side are we on, or do we need to choose a side, or are we going to make our future generations follow our path in the name of religion??
We are left with more questions than answers
Isn't the bloodshed(kuruthi) enough???
Sarpatta Parambarai (2021)
Fabulous Acting!!!
The casting for the movie is so good than every single person have lived in their roles rather than acting which makes us doubt reality for a minute.
Near perfect period film where we don't see any mistakes(first watch). Credit to the editing, cinematography, production design, costume design, art direction and every other technical aspect of the movie.
The director/script writer has made sure that his ideologies about caste makes its way through as it does in his earlier works. However, it does not feel out of place or irrelevant.
Arya finally gives a massive hit (probably) both commercially and critically as well. Sad that this could not be released in the big screen.
Pasupathi as the coach, John Vijay as Daddy, shabeer as Dancing rose deserve special mention.
Verdict - must watch boxing period drama.
Malik (2021)
Wow!!!!
This movie could easily be a 10/10 if not for a few moments like the submarine scene which felt a bit too artificial when compared to the original 95 percent of the movie.
The opening shot - makes us part of the movie.
Flashbacks- a virumandi kind of storytelling from different perspectives.
Acting- not too much or too little. It's just the way it should be.
Casting- perfection
Make up- could have been better considering the same actors have acted in their younger and older versions of themselves. However, the acting makes up for the make up.
Story- pinch of nayagan, godfather, vadachennai, etc but still feels original enough to be a classic.
There are multiple takeaways from a "karuthu" perspective. Delves into religion, politics, friendship, love,,,, As long as we as people look only for love and friendship in this world, life remains simple. Enter politics, religion, caste and money - life becomes too complicated.
Verdict - must watch.

Yaatraaa
The name says everything about this movie. Just watch it and maybe, just maybe you might even start thinking about going on a journey. Doesn't matter where, how or why. It's the experience that matters. The exotic and virgin locations will make you "mei maranthen" the line which keeps echoing throughout the movie.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Close to Marvel material!!!
The reason why I captioned it this way is way is because I could see a lot of people who talk about things that can and cannot happen in a COMIC book adaptation. If people can believe that Avengers saved the world then why not Umbrella Academy. They might be different in their own way but this is just a funnier and interesting version of X-Men comics and Doom patrol. Only when people understand this and stop complaining about loopholes can they actually enjoy the performance and production values. Had this been a movie series I can assure that all of the content would have gone into two or three movies which would be doing injustice to the characters. However, Netflix has done a great thing by adapting the comics into a live action TV series. Now we have around 15 hours worth of character development and endless scope for new characters in the future. I have also seen a few references about comparing this with DARK and how the multiverse/alternate timeline happens in season 3. Come on guys, most of the bigger comics have multiverse/alternate timeline concept. Hope people grow and stay happy with what we have here. I myself thoroughly enjoyed both seasons and hope the multiverse is even better. And finally don't ever compare this fantastic show with game of thrones season 8. GOT is the worst ever finale a TV series which rose to such great heights can have.
PS- The upcoming comic is titled "The Umbrella Academy: Sparrow Acadamy" so get ready for third season folks!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 4: Sanctuary (2019)
Seven Samurai
This episode felt more like a tribute to the famous seven samurai movie. Farmers hiring people who could fight for them. The best thing about this chapter was this planet felt more like earth and it was a leash of fresh air to see more human characters and children playing with baby Yoda.
