Kanabadutaledu (2021)
Unexpectedly Great.
First off, this movie is a great thriller. Keeps you engaged throughout. The Moments are spine chilling at times, I didn't have an expectation of the movie before watching it so i was ready for anything. Turned out to be really good. The area where this movie suffers is in execution. Solid story/ screenplay for sure but a few moments lack proper execution which is made up by the great cinematography, music and editing.
It's got a pretty good pace, makes you think more and more. Solid effort from the director, it was really good to watch Sunil on the screen as this child yet brilliant detective. Performances from the lead actress is very decent. Although few of the cast didn't seem fit for the screen or for acting.
Although there are a few weak points about the movie, it's a good watch on a lazy weekend, keep you going wanting for more answers.
Marriage Story (2019)
Just Beautiful
The script is amazing and the performances are truly flawless. Netflix might just be starting to get good in the movie business, which they failed over and over again in the past. Divorce is a scary and terrible thing especially when a kid is in the picture. This Netflix movie, portrays a very realistic account of what go through and it is visceral. Highly recommend to watch this. Scarlet Johansson's performance is breathtaking and Ray Liotta plays a divorce attorney.
Overall the movie was beautifully directed, well written and well cast with superb acting.
BoJack Horseman: The New Client (2019)
One of the Best moments of Bojack Horseman!
I just love how this show grows with each season, exploring newer aspects and gets only better. Also, love the new opening sequence which is not similar to the rest seasons. Most of this episode revolves around Princess Carolyn, who is struggling currently trying to balance her career and taking care of her of her new baby, Untitled Princess Carolyn Project. Todd's character always keeps gong to crazier, stranger and adventurous places. It's just so delightful to see Todd doing things and trying to navigate his life. Besides BoJack, Princess Carolyn has gone through a lot in her life. I feel very sympathetic towards her, such a strong working independent woman trying to do right by everyone and enduring pain only to find more along the way. Ruthie - Ep09 from S04 still haunts me sometimes. Amy Sedaris is extremely talented, no better person could've done better justice to her character. The way this episode ended was extremely touching, moving and memorable. May be one of the best moments, if not the best in the whole series. Just sad that this is ending but it's so good and I love where it's heading.
Joker (2019)
'I'm an Agent of Chaos'
Firstly, Joaquin Phoenix as Joker is undisputedly going to win an Academy award for his performance. The way this film deals with the central character and the plot is brilliant. It may seem to glamorize mental illness or gun violence but this is a Joker origin story, Batman's nemesis and we see his story unfold with his very own eyes and the movie succeeds to do so.
You can feel the pain he goes through trying to survive in this cruel and dark world and what laughing at wrong things can do to a person. We're not supposed to sympathize with such a person but you can't help feel sorry for what he's been through and what goes in his mind. There are really tense moments in the film along with moments of relief and solace.
The people of Gotham were already fed up with the elite and rich. The way things turn out by the end of the movie reminds me of Heath Ledger's Joker line 'I'm an agent of chaos' and that's certainly what happened. He aggravated the people, introduced anarchy and total chaos. Being very authentic to the character of Joker.
The score is just perfect, it tries to capture the loneliness when a mentally-ill person gets thrown away by society and the descent that follows later. The visuals, lighting and cinematography couldn't be more well suited for the theme of the movie. It feels kind of liberating what a person can achieve and disrupt the persistent nature of individuals, make them see true their colors no longer held accountable by society or the rules and go haywire. This movie as a Joker origin story is nothing less than flawless and phenomenal.
Undone (2019)
Kate Purdy for the Win!!
When I first found out Raphael Bob Waksberg, creator of BoJack Horseman and Kate Purdy who had written Time's Arrow were making a series I knew it was going to be something great and not the typical plots you expect.
First of all, the animation is brilliant and the director gets all credit for it and this script couldn't have been more suitable for this kind of animation. It's like watching an oil painting come to life. This show explores time travel in an attempt to find the cause of death of the protagonist's father and the research work he's been doing as a professor of theoretical physics. Although a few elements in the show might look like they've been explored in other shows/movies, it does manage to surprise us.
BoJack Horseman: Time's Arrow (2017)
One of the Greatest TV Episodes
I've always loved the show BoJack Horseman. I'd rewatch rerewatch and keep watching old episodes while I'd been waiting for Season 4. The ending of Season 3 wasn't good and it left me confused.
Season 4 is a bit different from the rest seasons. This particular episode in my opinion is very well written and directed. It's a visualization of Dementia, an insight into the mind of a person with dementia. They've taken this and wrote a wonderful screenplay. Details in the background keep changing, she can only remember a few important faces. The transition between scenes is epic. Everything just falls into place. This episode couldn't be better. Just brilliance, the place and the time they've decided to give to the scenes.
