He's Out There (2018)
Motive!
Okay it's a familiar story line. Home invasion psychopath style. But there usually is a motive even if it is killing for killing sake. But something more was going on here and I don't know what it was. The children irritated and at one point they continued to hide even though they gave themselves away. I suppose this film is a Friday the 13th/Halloween rip off though both those films were better.
Midnight Masquerade (2014)
One of the best romantic films I have ever watched
I would not call this film a romantic comedy, it is not a laugh out loud film. I would call this Mills and Boon on the big screen. It is the classic girl meets boy with the traditional bad guys. I have to say that what sets this film apart is Autumn Reisser she is a delightful actress, one of those women any mother would love to have as a daughter in law. Back to the film, Midnight Masquerade is a delightful film and I have watched it four times already and like it each time. Every actor is exceptional the niece the leading man even the bad guys. I like the film so much I am waiting eagerly for the film to be released on DVD. So if you have an afternoon spare and you see Midnight Masquerade in your TV listing, take the time out and watch it you will not be disappointed.
Kingsman: The Secret Service (2014)
I haven't enjoyed a film so much in ages!
I really really really enjoyed this movie and for this first time in ages I wanted to go back in the cinema and watch Kingsman again. I have always been a fan of Colin Firth and this role was right up his street. I've always liked Samuel and like Colin he was perfection in his role. The supporting actors/actresses were all good and the film soundtrack, well let's just say I'm still humming it! The story line is fantastic but hey it worked. I loved the beautiful baddie and it is nice to see Mark Strong as a good guy for once. All in all to me this film is so good there absolutely has to be a sequel. I loved Kingsman The Secret Service and I am eagerly awaiting the DVD release.
The Nine Lives of Christmas (2014)
A lovely romantic film lifted by good acting.
Ironically I first saw the leading actress in another Rom com where she played the sister of the main female character. And when I saw Kimberly Sustad I immediately believed she could hold her own in her own movie. So here she is the lead in this movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Okay let's be fair, this is not a movie that will end up on the Oscar best film short list. It is a movie that once the main characters are identified you pretty much know what is going to happen and just go along for the ride. So what for me lifted this movie above average? Kimberly Sustad. And why? Well there are not that many actresses that can really do emotions well. Kimberly managed to convey sadness and joy really well with her eyes watering up with tears almost flowing. Believe me this is not easy to pull off, so many actresses cry and there are no tears at all. I'm glad Brandon Routh recovered from superman. All in all this is a light and enjoyable Rom com that is light and fluffy and not a bad way to spend an hour and a half.
Barefoot (2014)
I wanted more!
Every once in a while I watch a movie and I'm left wanting more as the credits roll. For me Barefoot is one of those movies. I have to give full credit to the actors they were excellent and Ms Wood's acting is exceptional. It was not a fresh story line but when the acting is fresh and the story is believable even following a genre (a person experiencing life in the outside world for the first time) that has been done before.Give full credit to the writer who avoided the obvious, the writer could've written in a sex scene but thankfully he/she did not and for me the story was believable from start to finish. I loved this movie and was really sad when it came to an end so all I can do is wait for the DVD release. This movie is not flat out drama and is not a flat out laugh out loud comedy, it is a sweet romance that has its funny moments but remains firmly routed in the reality of life. Watch it!!!
