Dirty Grandpa (2016)
Hilarious!
I have a hard time finding movies these days that keep my attention all the way through and keep me laughing, but this one did just that. I suppose it appeals to those with a certain sick sense of humor. If you're someone like my mother who doesn't see the humor in pooping and farting and penis jokes, etc., you won't like this. But if you're the opposite, there will be times you'll laugh so hard you cry!
No somos animales (2013)
If you want to go down the rabbit hole...
When I first started watching this, I had my mind set to write a completely sarcastic review and summarize this as a tale of a man who once won a sizable amount of money on a popular game show while wearing his magical Wonder Woman wristbands, only to later in life be reduced to begging on GoFundMe for attorney retainer funds after being charged with methamphetamine possession following a Grindr hook-up gone wrong. But then something about this movie made me very sad, in a very deeply painful, aching kind of way. I can't completely explain it. Maybe if you have horrible attention deficit disorder like I do you'll sit through the whole thing while eating a large burrito. This movie might make you question your sanity, sort of like a psychopath or narcissist does when gaslighting a person, making them wonder what actually is reality.
In a Town This Size (2011)
Thank you for talking about what nobody wants to!
If more people had the courage to speak out about abuse the world would be a better place. It's a cycle that repeats and some people can never face it. This filmmaker has great courage in what he does. The truth exposes abusers and takes away their power. And where there is one victim there are always more. All it takes is one person to make a change for the better, and this man is one of those people. People who are abused as children often subconsciously seek out abusers as adults. It's the elephant in the room, the ugly truth everyone wants to pretend doesn't exist. I say it shouldn't be ignored any more than cancer or disease. It doesn't disappear, just hides beneath the surface of one's conscious mind, but lingers and creates havoc within the soul. I love that photos of this doctor are shown too. Abusers threaten in any way possible to attempt to silence those who speak out. Thank you for not cowering to the threats.
