Hannibal (2013)
Better Upon Reflection
My initial impression of this show was that it tricked people into thinking an incredibly poorly written procedural was prestige television through great acting and neat visuals, but now the writing in real life is much dumber. This means that Hannibal now requires relatively little suspension of disbelief to enjoy and is in fact more true to life than many arguably more intelligent TV shows. Well worth your time (it may even encourage you to take up fun new hobbies- like cooking and fly fishing!).
Midsommar (2019)
Strong Performances and Striking Visuals Can't Hide the Fact...
...that what these characters experience is not substantially different than the experience of a typical visit to Colonial Williamsburg or other similar tourist attraction. Certainly a well made movie, but if you ever went on a field trip as a kid you've already lived it in real life.
Blue Demon (2004)
When the the U.S. Air Force engineers killer sharks to defend America from terrorists...
...you know you must be watching a United Film Orginization production. Rarely does a film contain so many inappropriate elements. The score is far too jazzy, character's expressions are frequently out of place, and the spit-and-polish general is not nearly spit-and-polish enough(his name tag is lop-sided, his ribbons out of order). It is never fully explained why the air force has jurisdiction over killer sharks, although it is quite likely that the studio had surplus uniforms and decided to go with what they had to save money. In addition, there are precious few actual shark attacks. Is the movie bad? Yes, but it was at least somewhat entertaining.
The Producers (2005)
Great for those of you who like musicals
If you like musicals, you'll probably love this film. My friend absolutely loves musicals(he's a bit "funny") and he says it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. I, however, hate musicals. I'm not opposed to comedies with musical numbers in them, but comedy/musicals just don't do it for me.
That being said, the biggest problem for me in this movie was how the actors, for the most part, played their respective roles. They acted in the same manor as they would have had the been performing on stage. That is, the characters talked at the audience rather than to each other. This is delightful for some, but was annoying for me. I did enjoy a few moments but I only laughed a few times, mostly out of pity. Again this movie was not made for people who don't like musicals, I just wish I'd known that before other people paid for me to see it.
