I could only stomach 5 episodes.
22 May 2024
I've only been watching anime for the last few years, so I'm not gonna pretend to be an expert. I had been saving this show for a special occasion seeing how highly regarded it was. It started very strong. The first episode was really good. Truly. I didn't understand much, but the space western vibe it was giving was fun. So i figured I'd figure out more as it went, here i am in the 6th episode and barely anything makes sense. Then they started changing the style every episode, which pulled me out of the story. They also have done little to no character development or explaining. The villians are under developed and the world building is abysmal. They throw random stuff into the mix without explaining and expect you to just accept it. This story telling is too all over the place. I'm good here. I'll just get the high points of YouTube.

Okay, but not timeless
17 April 2024
Now I'll admit to right away that I haven't seen this show all the through. I have watched like 6 episodes of the first season and truly don't understand what all the hype is about. Maybe in 2002 this was good, and I could see it. But now the pacing and the dialog aren't the best. There's no compelling story that interests me with the characters. Honestly, I'd consider the shield on fx superior to this, and I honestly didn't care about that show either. When you give a show anything above a 9 on this this app, that to me says timeless. For instance, I've watched breaking bad through multiple times. Enjoyed it every single time. This show truly needs to be rated between a 7.5 and 8. It's good, you can see the quality they poured into it even in 02, but it's not timeless.

True Detective: Night Country: Part 6 (2024)

I'm being harsh for a reason
20 February 2024
This series is the epitome of what's wrong with modern TV. The character were disingenuous, the story was lacking, and we're supposed to accept it because it's different.. and I guess they think different is better. My disdain for this season isn't because there was a predominantly female leading cast, or because it had a female show runner. It comes solely from a subpar story, in the hands of amateurs who were clearly had no vision. I particularly liked the idea of combining it with a horror aspect. Alaska was the perfect setting for so many reasons. It's mysterious. It's also Ruston's home. The fact that they took a 30 days of night angle was great too. What was terrible was everything else. The dialog was cringe, the character development was stale, the story pacing is atrocious, and God I'm sorry but Kali Reis performance was abysmal. Call me a toxic fan, that's fine. I'm just tired of being told I'm the problem when they're too lazy to write a solid story with solid female characters.

Update: it's been a month since my review. When you average all the reviews with a comment for this episode it brings it down to a 4. This was a finale. How did this get renewed?

True Detective: Night Country: Part 5 (2024)
Season 4, Episode 5

True Bland
12 February 2024
The reason this show is failing, is the only good parts are what ties into season one. This story was weak at best. It started with some potential, but it lost vision quick. The dialog was once a cornerstone of the show that made us think about things bigger than a TV show, now is just cringe and focused on the surface level. The only reason it feels like there's dialog at all is to keep from having dead air. I lost hope for this show really quickly after the show's creator stepped away, and now I understand why. The true travesty is I don't hate Jody Foster, but this season was a massive waste of her talents. Issa Lopez is to True Detective what Rian Johnson is to star wars!

Also, after waiting a full week and averaging all the review scores together, and this episode only has a 5.5. That is a truly more accurate score.

Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer (2023 TV Special)

Not his best
8 January 2024
Upon seeing Dave Chappell had a new special out, I was admittedly pumped. I'm not gonna lie and say I'm not a huge fan. I've seen everyone of his specials more than once. This however, isn't close to being near the classic Dave Chappell standard we've come to expect. It started strong but fades pretty quick, that the sixteenth minute I'm constantly clicking to see how long is left so I can get through it. His joke telling in this is kinda lazier, and he's usually pretty poignant but here it seemed uninspired. This is almost feels like a quick cash grab. I'm not saying Dave is losing a step. I still think he's probably the GOAT. This one just isn't is his best. Skip it, and keep going.

A more accurate score
12 October 2023
I went through and added all the scores up to this episode to give a more accurate score of this episode. Bare in mind is only taking into account the scores of everyone who left a review, not everyone. This episode score comes in at a 6.3. With a bulk of the votes being a 7, I'd say this is accurate.

I'm only posting this part to meet the character requirement. I particularly wasn't a fan of this show, but this is more for the people who aren't sure if they wanna watch it. I didn't watch the whole series, but I did follow the high points. I think this is accurate to this episode. Dave Filoni may be a nerd, but not great players make great coaches. This is true in his case. Though you never really know who's to blame at Disney. They shift it so much.

Have you heard of twisted metal?
8 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Yeah, I didn't even bother with this piece of crap this week, and probably won't again. I've just about already worked out Disney's formula. They hyped up thrawn to get everyone excited. He probably won't become a figure in the story till episode 6 maybe even 7. The dark jedi will get killed by his apprentice for being "weak." The guy behind the mask is either Ezra or Starkiller. Either isn't a strong enough draw for me at this point. All while we watch a show steeped in sexism.

Now on to why we are really here. Do you like Anthony Mackie? Do you like slightly odd action comedies? Did you love zombieland? Well this is perfect for you. Set in alternative 2023 where the world ended 20 years ago. Anthony Mackie plays a milkman (driver between cities) making dangerous deliveries and searching for his past. There's twists, excellent writing (unlike here), and even better acting. Please go treat yourself!

Terrible
30 August 2023
I tuned in hoping the story would get better, because I do really love ahsoka's character. It didn't. The only thing they've done is realize how terrible their actual script is, so they insert shots from other movies. The opening sequence is very much a massive ripoff of episode IV training sequence with Luke. This is too me shows a lack of belief in what you're trying to create. Plus I feel like they're gonna try to push the whole we can all be jedis if we train hard enough. Which is complete crap. This show is basically the participation trophy of all star wars series. Again, if you're reading this go check out twisted metal on peacock. Much more satisfying of a show.

Ahsoka (2023– )
5/10
This is how star wars dies, with thunderous applause
26 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Okay, aside from the fact that Ahsoka obviously is catered to the people who watched rebels! It's the same predictable writing we got in Obi-Wan, and book of Boba Fett! Next up is the light saber duels, they've just been clunky and awful since Disney has picked this up! This series, just proves it. I get Sabine, but ahsoka's duel wasn't great either. What used to be my favorite part is now pure cringe. Now let's talk about how we keep getting these shows where the title characters keep taking a back seat to other characters! Obi-Wan took a back seat to an adolescent Leia, Boba Fett took the same back seat to Mando, and it now appears Sabine is the main character in Ahsoka! Now let's talk about how the villains aren't ever all bad. They keep using this trope like it's never been done before. They did this with 3rd sister in Obi-Wan, and they are seemingly setting it up again. The sith is clearly gonna revert to his jedi training, and get killed by his apprentice or the witch he serves. Disney your writing is getting awful. I think I'm good with 2. I'll catch the high points on YouTube since Thrawn is in it! If you read this, go watch twisted metal on peacock! It's much better!

Update: now that the series has ended, I went through and added together all the user reviews to give you a more accurate score. After adding all the reviews together and getting the average. The user review score is actually 4.6. Just further proof Disney is manipulating things. What's even crazier is that there 83 people who have it a 10, but there was 90 people who gave it a 1.

Slowly getting worse.
6 May 2019
I'm an avid game of thrones fan, but it's getting slightly disappointing. It's becoming as predictable as the walking dead. Refusing to kill major characters, cliche story arcs, and lazy writing. I'm basically only finishing the series because there's only 2 more episodes.
