This is one of the best science fiction series and a good series in general. It has been a pleasant surprise due to its great plot quality in the hands of Aaron Guzikowski. Acclaimed screenwriter for movies like Papillon, Prisoners and also signs the text of a series called Red Road, which I have on my list of favorite series to watch, with none other than Jason Momoa among his actors.
As if that were not enough, Ridley Scott is the producer and director of some of his Raised by Wolves episodes. A first-class endorsement that corroborates the quality of this series that attracts attention.
In addition, the quality of the actors who shine in a series without too many special effects (as you would expect in a science fiction series) is impressive, where the quality of dramatic interpretation brings out the shine of an intricate script, full of winks and references that go putting together like a puzzle as we visualize the series through retrospective scenes (flashback). Amanda Collin is remarkable, who represents the android Mother and who shows a variety of masterful interpretive registers. Abubakar Salim is another actor who surprises us by giving life to the character called Father. Travis Fimmel also stands out for his acting personality.
As negative points there are some somewhat slow episodes, such as the third, which contrast with the visual and action power of the first and second, directed by Ridley Scott. But in any case the set is good. The special effects are not outstanding either, but they are aspects that if Guzikowski's script hooks you, they are forgivable.
The narrative is not predictable and what you might expect does not happen, this clashes but it is coherent as the puzzle is put together. Any distraction while following the dialogues prevents understanding the following chapters, because they are full of clues and open options. Along with a philosophical aspect, there is also a mystical tint that is difficult to follow and irritating for some but enriching for others. In short, it leaves the archetypes and the general taste.
I have seen the series in English and Spanish and the dubbing works quite well.
It is a highly recommended series if you like this genre.
