Falling (I) (2020)
9/10
Triggering
4 April 2024
I have wanted to watch this for a while but I needed to be in the right frame of mind to do so. I am a C- PTSD survivor, growing up an only child with an abusive father and a mother who feared his moods, a man from the generation of, we don't talk about it, or show any emotion, my word is the final and only say in any matter. I found Falling to be cathartic in the sense that I understand how hard the children of Willis had to work to get to the acceptance stage of their father's anger and bigotries. It is soul crushing work coming to the understanding that you will never hear from your parent, "I love you. I'm sorry, or I'm proud of you." But, life goes on and you move forward, clinging to what good memories you have. I commend Viggo for opening the door wide for all to see the ugly demons that lurk in the closets of many.

Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)

The Witches are Back

Look it's been 29 years, and of course it's not going to be the same movie as the original, not even the same premise, but I'm okay with that. I loved it, as did my teenage son who has become a diehard Hocus Pocus fan because of me. If you can't get over the fact that these ladies have aged over the past 29 years then don't watch the film, as for me it was like a true homecoming; I was elated to see them on the screen together once again as the three sisters, my heart swelled with joy from the moment they first appeared on the screen. In my humble opinion it was a win; long live The Sanderson Sisters!

A young David Bowie, what's not to love? I miss the man, the legend that he was. I wish the family had given consent to use Bowie's music and to work with the director and producers on this film. There are a lot of us out there that still thirst for Bowie in our lives, I'd rather have truth but I guess I'm so starved for the void to be filled that I will take what I can get. Personally I enjoyed this film and did not feel it did anything to take away from David Bowie's credibility as a star or a talent to be reckoned with; his talent was like no other, unique to only him.

Star Trek: Short Treks: Q&A (2019)

The Short Trek Short Q & A is absolutely worth it's weight in gold. The wonderful maahup of Spock and Una stuck together in a turbo lift is the absolute best; this is why I still love Star Trek all of these years later! Yes, I have been watching Star Trek from the very beginning and it just keep getting better!

Prodigal Son: It's All in the Execution (2021)
Season 2, Episode 1

I have to wonder if the people who gave the first episode of season two such a low rating even watched the entire episode. Political? Good, it should be, let's talk about it, all of it! If we refuse to acknowledge what transpires in real life, maybe we'll pay attention if our favorite shows put it front and center for us to understand this is what is happening and it needs to stop!

Kurt is Santa
22 November 2018
My new favorite Christmas movie! I have lived to the perfect age, long enough to see Kurt Russell protray Santa and he is perhaps the best, most endearing, Santa I have seen in many a moon. Both my son and myself hope that Netflix will make this an annual event and perhaps a series of Santa movies with Mr. Russell!
