Truely Overrated but just fine
4 January 2024
On a rewatch of the DCEU as Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom marks the end of the series, the crossroads intersects with James Gunn's The Suicide Squad. Set in between the ending of the Snyder/original regime and the middle of Hamada's tenure. If you look at reviews from the mainstream and those on twitter, you'd be hard pressed to believe this is the greatest comic book movie ever made. My question would be "did we watch the same movie?" The characters for the most part do make the movie but the "plot" doesn't really do them justice. The movie is mostly just character skits pieced together by juvenile humor. Given the beginning and the ending are entertaining but the entire movie in the middle is a bore to get through. I have watched this movie twice with friends and family and they ask me to watch something else when this in on. I guess this was unfiltered guardians of the galaxy and it shows. This is the director that WB gave the keys to and I can say that I wish them luck but I definitely won't be in the theaters for those films.

Not well thought out topics.
6 September 2023
A cool nostalgia trip but the topics leave a lot to be desired. For every TRL, Jon and Kate plus 8 or Bachelor documentary there are unbalanced TMZ, Charlie Sheen/Linsay Lohan, or Maxim magazine episodes.

A reoccurring theme with this series is Vice is trying to stage a Brittany Spears comeback or something. While the episodes do have a good setup, they mostly divulge into Masculinity is toxic or how the world treats women badly while refusing to cover Kate Gosselin neglecting her own children for fame and Jon risking everything to gain custody of them.

The series creator for this one seemed to have cherry picked topics and power of hindsight managed to blame current year issues on it.

For only a 12-episode series there is only really 4 at best worth watching.

Another Video Game Movie Breaks The Curse
10 April 2023
In a landscape where most animated movies are just churned out to fill out content on a streaming service or as a tax write off.

Super Mario Bros is given a second chance to redeem itself from the last theatrical release and it knows what it is. It's a fun and entertaining movie for both kids and adults that doesn't overstay it's welcome (with some deserved criticism that it's too short).

The movie is an homage to the video games and actually adds much needed lore and also manages to be its own thing at the same time. The references are a nice wink and nod but doesn't over do it and adds to the richness of the world it's set in. Well worth a watch for the family.

The best one in a while
12 March 2023
While I was a fan a 5 this one was leaps and bounds better in every way. May I say the best since the original. The callbacks are very good and actually add value to the other movies even 3. The main themes of the movie and fan theories are actually put into practice and help subvert expectations in a good way and not like modern sequels and helps break a major trope.

The elevated gore helps it stand out more with the brutality but kind of sad seeing as Paramount doesn't seem to want to release the Director's cut of the original. Overall, this is a really good movie and good scary movie at that. Go watch it if you can.

Bruh
23 January 2023
From the studio/network that killed the Snyderverse and wouldn't allow The Briscoes on AEW but puts James Gunn in charge of DC studios and bend over backwards for Ezra Miller. This is worse than when TNN was gutting the OG ECW to promote Roller Jam. WB is gutting AEW to get this garbage over and it's not even entertainment, let alone sports entertainment. Not only it does it try to steal AEW Dynamites spotlight but it's also on at a terrible time. What is it with tv networks just stealing internet conent/trends and just dragging it onto television like it's groundbreaking stuff. Stay away from this.

So, it's ok when Marvel does it but not DC?
26 October 2022
This is a modern superhero movie made like it was the 80s. It's a get in, get out movie that was actually entertaining. People are overthinking about this movie way too much. The characters are cool albeit the side ones being cookie cutter because they're not the main focus and the story is a little thin but it's comprehensible. Of course Dr. Fate and Black Adam are the best parts of the movie and should call for spin offs that merit it.

Yes DC has been in shambles with the constant changes to corporate but I'd take that over the assembly line decent of quality with the other guys over at Disney.

Halloween Part V: A New Beginning
15 October 2022
Aside from the obvious similarities between the two movies, I liked how they pretty much just gave up and went in and finished the unused concepts of Halloween 5 added with concepts of RZH2. This is not everybody's cup of tea, if you went in expecting the actual ending and were disappointed, I am in the same boat with you. This movie would have been better served as the second movie instead of the finale. Of course: I don't agree with the creative liberties they took with the characters however it was a clear homage to Season of The Witch; even with the opening text of doing its own thing. They had the balls and went all the way with it and I appreciate it for what it is but of course disappointing for how it played out. You'll either like it or you'll hate it. I liked it but still not the worst. View at your own risk.

Interesting but flawed
6 August 2022
This show is by no means a bad one. The biggest flaw is that it tends to skew facts in order to fit a current year topic.

Unlike Dark Side of The Ring where it is presented impartially: some facts may be omitted/edited in order to tell the complete story overall; this show tells its own version of history from a certain point of "view". History dictates A leads to B leads to C. In this show A leads to C.

An example would be the Jerry Springer show somehow lead to Columbine. Columbine happened in 1999 and the narrator advocated to why schools allowed students to have access to guns? They conveniently failed to mention the Gun Free Schools Act of 1994.

Again, not a bad show, the topics are interesting and a fun stroll through memory lane but filtered facts bring it down.

The Battinson Rises
3 March 2022
A really well crafted movie that delves into the detective aspect of batman. This is a real life version of the Arkham games that comes pops on screen in IMAX.

Every character in this movie serves a purpose and make it feel like any member of the rogues gallery can fit seamlessly into this world.

The title says it all. This is the complete opposite of The Dark Knight Rises where that movie is 80% Bruce Wayne and 20% Batman.

Really worth seeing, good action, really well done murder mystery and now in my top 3 Batman movies.

A Degrassi XXX Parody
18 February 2022
A really disturbing, hyper sensationalized "teen" drama that's really tries to push the envelope in what characters can get away with. I think this is what Hollywood thinks teens do nowadays and it's really disturbing because this isn't even teen appropriate. It's all the more revolting that these are "high school" teens when everything about this screams "college". I may not be the target audience, but I don't know if the show knows what audience it wants.

The scary movie I've been waiting for
16 January 2022
This movie delivered where Halloween Kills and Matrix Resurrections failed doing meta breaking and direct follow up story. The mystery is intriguing and actually pokes fun of the modern trend of movie sequels and prequels today.

Obviously still not as good as the first (even pointed out in the movie) but it manages to stay true to it. Wes Craven is missed but the new directors add their own flare to it. I liked it.

Better than expected
14 January 2022
A follow up to THE Suicide Squad which I thought was mediocre, this was better than expected as of episode 3.

There a definitely negatives such as the 5th grade style humor. It interrupts the really good action/superhero stuff to try and get a laugh and banter (leave that stuff in the MCU) and the jokes that try to appeal to the twitter crowd.

The mystery aspect is good and episodes breeze by fast and look forward to seeing where it goes.

Snyder Cut in Reverse
23 December 2021
The studio (WB) released a bad movie to spite a filmmaker with Justice League (2017). This time around the filmmaker released a bad movie to spite a studio and you can't convince me otherwise (It's even on record). Who is in charge of Warner Bros that keeps making these decisions? Making unnecessary sequels/changes.

If you're a pro wrestling fan this is what would happen if you gave Vince Russo free reign on a movie script. Nothing makes sense in this. It is barely a movie and more like a filler episode of a tv show used to recap the events up until now. Stay Away.

Chucky should have stayed in the 90s
1 December 2021
I would be hard pressed to think this was originally conceived as a movie before the reboot debacle that got stretched out as a tv show. The biggest problem with this show is it serves as a sequel but yet answers none of the question from the previous movies and wants to play more to the first two movies.

This show has exposed Don Mancini's writing capabilities and proves that the series was handled better by talented directors. Don has contributed greatly to the horror genre but his latest outings prove Chucky is a series that should have ended with Bride of Chucky. Sure, this show does have its moments that out shine anything from this series in the last 10 years but the writing really derails it.

If you're a Chucky fan give it a shot but expect it to drag since it plays more like a movie chopped up in 1-hour segments and get no real payoff (even episode to episode).

Bebop: A Star Wars Cowboy Story
20 November 2021
In lieu of the controversy of the show before it started the actual meat of it is that it's not really that good. John Cho. Does what he can with what he's given but when there is not much there it can't be saved.

It's a complete mish mash of things old and new. Either make your own interpretation or follow it closely. Like the headline says in regards to that movie, things explored and explained that didn't need, unnecessary character changes and compressed stories for some or really stretched out for others.

My main issue with this is that the original was more of a noir story while this plays like a generic action show that is more suited for network television.

Chucky: Just Let Go (2021)

Rob Zombie's Hallow....errr Child's Play
3 November 2021
The season is finally starting to move along but this episode does feel like it was written by Rob Zombie, a really contrived get out of jail free card to avoid paying off the cliffhanger from the previous episode and trying to explore Chucky's origin which has never fared well with horror icons(Myer's cult/redneck broken home, Voorhees' cursed bloodline, and Leatherface's Illuminati).

To give credit this episode is full of suspense and fast paced.

Mixed Bag
24 October 2021
I hate to sound like Gene Siskel when reviewing this show. It is entertaining in a train wreck kind of way. I think this show confuses being a deep and complex character with being an unsympathetic/unlikable one. It's just horrible people doing horrible things to each other. The first 2 seasons were at least engaging with the story but hitting season 3 it just feels like they hit a roadblock of ideas and just repeat what they did before but just plug in different characters in their place. I wouldn't expect any less from Greg Berlanti of all people to derail it.

In my top 4 of the series
15 October 2021
Honestly it was way more enjoyable than the 2018 and better pacing and story especially adding to the lore of the original and tying it into the 2018 . Only real nitpick is the modern trend when it comes to reboot/sequel trends that involve returning characters but definitely good.

Twitter/Tumblr's favorite show
5 June 2021
Like my headline explains, this show has little to no redeeming values with all the character's being unrealistic, unrelatable and annoyingly terrible actions.

This is obviously aimed to the social media crowd and we're expected to accept that their behavior is perfectly normal to the people that live outside of their accounts.

Bad character's, bad acting/over acting. And just bad writing all under the guise of "yas queens slay". I DO NOT Recommend this on the grounds that this is a show meant to degrade a certain demographic to make the other look good.

The Version We Needed and Deserved
4 April 2021
Robbed of this version in 2017, This undoubtedly wipes the floor with Joss Whedon's version. A literal comic book come to life and gets better and better with each subsequent viewing. 10/10.

Why does Greg Berlanty still have a job?
9 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Greg Berlanty needed to be taken off every DC show since Arrow season 4. Most characters in the DC shows are just dumbed down melodramatic teens thanks to Greg and not really representative of their comic and cartoon counterparts. This show is so bad it gives away the major plot twist right at the end of the first episode warning you not to watch the rest. Whoever is the bridge between DC entertainment and WB television, needs to fire Mr. Berlanty

The Aquaman (Who can talk to fish)
22 December 2018
This is literally one of the best movies of the year (this will get disliked because of fanboyism) but I liked it better than infinity war simply because not much happened in that movie (all set up and no ending) and this one was a thrill ride. I didn't realise this was a 2 and a half hour movie because it felt like barely an hour and i legit wanted more. This movie plays out like an 80s action movie and not at all a bad thing. 10/10

It's different
16 November 2017
I'd take this over the last 5 marvel movies which are just copy and paste at this point.

It's funny how people judge this movie hard but conveniently look the other way when marvel does it.

DC- weak villain, plot holes, rushed story 3/10

Marvel- weak villain, plot holes, rushed story 9/10 best marvel movie since the last marvel movie.

It's literally come down to brand preference but hey marvel has the box office to prove it, let me know when they get their animation and actual comics division going again.

Who thought this was a good idea?
7 April 2017
Okay we get it ABC, you struck gold Shark Tank and was a run away success but did you really have to repackage it and use kids as judges? Eric Stonestreet doesn't really add anything to the show and is just there to make sure the kids don't go off script or something.

This is almost as bad as when Viacom hit paydirt with Ink Master on Spike TV and now every station they own has a tattoo show but at least it's spread out where as this show is literally a lead in show for Shark Tank. I don't recommend this not because it's a self parody of a better show but because it has no structure and the kids arguing is really awful television.

Has DC cracked the Marvel Formula?
25 March 2016
Since people are going to compare Marvel and DC even though they are different things why not break it down. Marvel has crafted a winning formula while DC is still far behind and there is no denying that.

Warner Bros. tried to take a page from Marvel but sadly they were reading the things that went wrong with Iron Man 2 page. The narrative follows it's own thing until they reach the impasse of studio mandates that read "hurry up we have things to set up here." I genuinely think that both studios confuse plot-holes with set-ups so they have to cram so much as possible and it takes away from the experience.

A major problem with this movie is the title "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice". If it was called "Dawn of Justice: Batman V Superman" it would make more sense story wise. It is by no means a bad movie, for me those two and a half hours flew by, but it really does a disservice to itself as a whole.

With this kind of thing: if you like it you're a DC fanboy. If you hate it you're a Marvel fanboy. What if I like both, what then? They both have their merits and both have their faults. I recommend it because it's something different and I like variety.
