Gold Digger (2019)
Definitely worth a watch. Ben Barnes was brilliant in this
Very well made mini-series. I found myself getting frustrated at Julia's character. I just kept thinking, "Surely a woman can't be that desperate?" Taking him back, kicking him out, taking him back, kicking him out? Julia's character kind of droned on for a while. She's a great actress, but she left me feeling very anxious, not much happiness in her character, same look throughout the whole series. However, it was refreshing to see an older woman not all dolled-up trying to get the young guy. The other side of the story was her ex-husband. I actually knew from the second episode what he had done to her. It was actually kind of a letdown to know there was not more to the story. I know there has to be a second season. I can't wait! I hope Ben/Sean turns out to be a good guy!!
Katie Says Goodbye (2016)
What a great movie!
Katie is play beautifully by Olivia Cook. Hard to believe she's British. This movie is flawless, as far as acting. The plot however, is so depressing, but I couldn't take my eyes off of it. She loses everything in one day and yet gets up, literally, and starts over. Bravo!
In His Steps (2013)
Disregard the Atheist' view, this had a great message.
Although this was a low-budget movie, the message was great! This is how we all need to live. I wish Hollywood made movies like this.
Shelley (2016)
Slow-paced, but well-made
Although this movie fell under "Thriller" on Netflix, it is more of a horror movie. I don't care for horror because they are not made-well and always seem to be the juvenile, gratuitous-skin, slasher-kind . This movie, on the other hand, I really liked. It is the kind of movie that actually scared me. It is slow, but it builds-up and is well-acted. Could have done without the vaginal scene, but loved the build-up on the scare factor. People are posting that there is no plot and they didn't understand it. Leo put a spell on Elena, who in turn transferred to the baby and in turn transferred to the father-That's it. Just enjoy the movie!
It Comes at Night (2017)
One of the worst movies ever! Save your money!
I could have had a nice sandwich from Panera instead of the $8.00 I paid to be put to sleep by this awful movie! I cannot believe all the rave reviews by people here, all I can think is that they worked on the film. You will be left at the end saying "What the hell happened," and "WHAT comes out at night?" There were seven of us in the theater and we all looked at each other confused and then started laughing! The movie makes no sense, you don't know who the good guy is, what may be stalking them (if anything) and the ending leaves you wishing you would have been somewhere else! The saving grace was the acting; Joel Edgerton was great as usual, and the other cast members were very convincing, but the story-line is awful-no substance. Sorry, just my opinion.
Bloodline (2015)
Powerful show, disappointed it didn't go for six seasons
SPOILER ALERT!!!!! Do not read this if you have not seen the ending!!
Love this show! Confused at the end; can someone tell me what happened? I feel as paranoid and lost as John's character? Last two episodes made me anxious and it was hard to follow. Was he crazy, did his mom die, did he kill his brother? Did the stabbing by Roy really happen and was Danny Roy's kid? Was the ending as simple as telling Danny's brother that he did it? Can't be? A little disappointed.
Misconduct (2016)
age difference
I was completely turned off in the opening scene when I saw Anthony Hopkins' character holding hands with his girlfriend, played Malin Akerman, age 37. Anthony Hopkins is 78 years old! I don't care how rich a character is in a movie, at some point it needs to be believable. After that, it went downhill fast. I had no idea what was going on and I was 30 minutes into the movie. It is a shame because there were some damn good actors in this movie, but all were very boring. The music didn't fit the scenes. Al Pacino had a Southern accent?? Mr. Hopkins and Mr. Pacino, I know parts are scarce now but something good will come along, please don't take the only script you can get.
Escape from Tomorrow (2013)
Sucks
This is nothing more than a little boy's sexual/man's pedophilia-like fantasy of Disney World from the "Director's" perspective. Son, you need some serious help if this is the kind of trash you are directing. It makes absolutely no sense, just here and there fantasies and robotic nonsense. Acid anyone? I asked for $1.49 back from the movie store. The only reason this movie got any rating or thumbs-up (Ebert, you have failed us)is because there are a lot of sick people out there who enjoy this trash. I stopped watching it after I read the synopsis.I feel as if I wasted over an hour of my life and it left me feeling like the world is going to hell with these "up and coming" kinky writer's and director's (ring any bells, Joe?)
