it is different but weirdly different

I have watched all 6 episodes and this mini series is something different.

It has nothing to do with hollywood productions. It is film in the French countryside, most actors are French and it is nice to see something different. The plot is weird .

It starts off really strongly. 6 nuns are assassinated. It was a very sad and macabre episode. But after that ,the plot goes downhill.

The assassin is just a madman sent to retrieve a boy.

A boy that allegedly is important and everyone wants him .Every single person in the film wants to get the boy. And they are willing to kill or die for him.

It is a mess, bcs they kill people for no reason.

Bozouls is a horrid place. Miserable, gloomy people, traitors everywhere, no one to trust.

In the end we get a Poirot moment. All the people are gathered together like Detective Poirot does always in the end of the movie. But instead of Poirot it is a US/Canadian lady that blames everyone and gets the boy.

The end.

Yes the plot was that horrendous. BUT I gave it 8 stars. Why? Because the cinematography was very good albeit quite dark most of the times. The whole series had a way to draw you in ,to make you want to watch the episodes even though nothing made sense there.

It is a pity that they did not make the plot better. They had the ingredients.

BTW who thought it was a good idea to show us Clive Owen's naked rear side all the time? Was this really necessary?

Death Proof (2007)

it is not for everyone

Pls understand that this movie is not for everyone. It is slow, the plot can be summed up in 2 lines,the character development is non existent. But, it is captivating, it is different, it is unique in every aspect.

Tarantino is a different kind of director. I love most of his movies, but they aren't for everyone. Too much violence .Not this particular one though. This movie is magnificent the way it is bcs it actually feels real. I don't know how to explain it. Not every movie has to be deep. This one is beautiful in its simplicity but the attention to detail is what makes it stand out.

I have watched this movie 2 or 3 times over the years and I am planning to rewatch it soon. It is very entertaining and it provides what the ancient Greeks used to call it :katharsis. It is somehow similar to redemption. A feeling of justice.

A simple story but very well shown to the audience.

Role Play (2024)

I have seen worse movies

This is not a good movie. It is quite bad. The plot is incoherent, the characters are pretty much stupid. This type of movies has been made dozens of times in the past. I have seen much better, I have also seen much worse. That is why I won't be very strict with this movie. The whole plot is a plothole. Sovereign is after her but they do not want to kill her,they want to continue working with her.

But if she was done with the killings it would be somehow relevant. If she had settled down and she was not killing anyone. BUT she is an active assassin,still taking contracts for the money. And this makes her look utterly stupid.

Anyway,the chemistry between the couple is pretty much inexistent.

The husband has zero personality and the only thing that he says over and over is how much he loves her even though she is an assassin and endangered their children.

The whole Sovereign seemed to be something to be feared, but I counted like 5-6 people, who were taken out quite easily.

But what destroys the movie is the choice of Cuoco as the lead female character. Seriously I was blown out by the lack of her acting skills. She fails to bring a dynamic portraying of an assassin. Countless women have played the role of an assassin and most of them nailed it. She is not convincing in any scene. And from what I saw at the beginning of the movie, Cuoco is actually the producer of this film. This means she was not a choice by any audition but she was the one who thought it was a good idea to play this role. Obviously nobody else thought about it. On the other hand Nielsen is perfect for the role as the head of Sovereign ,she has this dynamic and cool style which Cuoco totally lacks. A better choice for the female lead would have made the movie more tolerable but it could not save it from the incoherent and uninteresting script. Seriously ,nowadays it is hard to find a good script.

Constantine (2014–2015)

the best series dealing with supernatural

I watched this series at least twice and I still cannot explain why there was not a season 2 or 3. They left a huge cliffhanger and ended abruptly the best series dealing with supernatural forces and exorcisms.

The protagonist is just perfect for the role. He is even better than Keanu Reeves.

All episodes are interesting, scary and the chemistry between the cast is perfect.

It is an underrated gem and it is worth-watching.

I hope that they will make at least another season even 10 years later.

I still have nightmares from some episodes. It is not for the faint of heart. It makes you wonder how evil a person can be or become with or without supernatural forces. The character development is excellent. The script is excellent. I would gladly sign a petition to bring this back.

Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)

what a mess

Once upon a time there was Gamorra (oops Kora).. Then she found John Carter ,the Bride, Efialtis and she stood up to the people who wanted the crops of Arrakis.

The mess in the movie is beyond words. It feels like watching different movies ,an all in one experience which makes things weird and together uninteresting.

There were some decent fight scenes, but it was dull and incohesive.

There is zero character development, some scenes are totally ridiculous and some are totally unnecessary. They did not need a part 2 for this ,they could make one movie.

I expected more from Snyder, the CGI aren't very good and also the planets that are shown in the movie seem like a movie studio. You can't even get the feeling that they are somewhere outside.

The movie lacks depth and fun.

I don't know what made them do this movie but honestly it shouldn't be made. They stole so many elements from sci-fi movies thus making this movie looking like a parody of sci fi movies.

There are some interesting elements still though, I would like to watch the part 2 to see if there will be a redemption and the movie will actually become worth-watching as one. But this part 1 left me puzzled and wondering what is going on.

Wish (II) (2023)

underwhelming

I went to watch the movie with my kids. My 8 yo loved it.my 10 yo fell asleep. I wanted to fall asleep too. The movie was boring, underwhelming and honestly who wrote the plot?

The design was nice but I have watched Disney movies 20+ years ago with better design. But the plot was pretty much non-existent.

A king who keeps the wishes for no apparent reason and then decides to use them in combination with dark magic. The group of friends who have nothing in common or any bonding whatsoever. Zero character development, zero plot. I did not laugh at any point of the movie. I was just sitting there wondering how they thought that this movie could celebrate 100 years Disney.

It is plain. It is for sure not forgettable because it is so plain that nothing actually happened in the movie.

I just do not recommend this. It is not worth spending money on.

Oppenheimer (I) (2023)

Overrated movie

I decided to watch this movie last night,whilst it was still on theaters.

The movie is not bad, it is not perfect either.

I gave it six stars because it had some interesting parts, food for thought let's say. The acting was great .All the actors chosen for the movie did their job well without overacting or exaggerating.

But the plot is killing the movie. It is an endless back and forth ,back and forth of the same thing. The focus on the connection between Oppenheimer and the communists. I understand that this could be interesting to some people,for me it wasn't.

I did not go to the theaters expecting to watch a blockbuster/action movie. But I did not expect a legal drama either.

There was no development and even though the movie was named Oppenheimer, it does not mean that Oppenheimer should be in 95% of the screen time , mostly staring vaguely in to the camera ,all dreamy-eyed.

I just do not get the extremely high reviews. I have rated many movies much higher than 6 stars. Does this make this movie a garbage? No. By no means this is a garbage. It is a high profile movie with an all star cast BUT the plot is non existent ,it makes you feel that it is not going anywhere, the character development is non existent as well.

I feel that Nolan made a movie that mocks our intelligence the same way he did with Tenet. I sat 3 hours through this but I wanted to walk out really bad.

Heart of Stone (I) (2023)

excellent action movie

Gal Gadot is great for action movies. The whole production was top level, I could not believe it was a Netflix movie.

The plot is nice, the action is non stop, Gal Gadot is very good at her role. I do not get what is not to like. I saw all these bad reviews and I was hesitant to watch it even though I have Netflix at home. And then I was like, hey why not? And the movie was actually great.

I do not know what the others watched and decided to give so many low ratings. This is a shame. By no means this is a movie that someone would rate less than 6 stars.

It is interesting,it is intense,it is fun to watch.

Do not let haters deter you from watching it.

The Flash (I) (2023)

a 10 out of 10 movie

I was not really excited about this movie and this mostly has to do with the protagonist BUT if you let go of his behaviour and focus on the movie, the movie is a masterpiece.

I really enjoyed it, it was unexpected, the whole time travel was very interesting and well-blended.

All the actors were great I still cannot believe that I got to see Nic Cage as Superman Michael Keaton in his 70s still was a great Superman The inevitability of certain events was a much better variant than just going back in time and fixing everything.

I enjoyed all the cameos and the plot was great and fast paced.

I totally recommend the movie.

Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One (2023)

What a movie!!

The latest Mission Impossible movies (Rogue nation, Fallout and this one) have set very high standards for action movies.

The hype is real. The movie is amazing in every aspect. The plot, the locations ,the stunts, the cast ,everything is perfect.

I watched it last night at the movie theatre and even though I was extremely tired, the film was so breath-taking that I didn't feel bored at all. Almost 3 hours passed and I swear I could sit for another 3 hours and watch part 2 if they were released simultaneously.

I really enjoyed the addition of Pom Klementieff. I did not know she was in the movie at all ,but she has potential to be a great action movie star.

There are still many questions that remain unanswered but that is where part 2 will step in and fill-in the gap.

I loved the movie and I believe that every action movie fan will enjoy it .

The Dry (2020)

Not bad. Not good either

This movie is very very extremely slow-paced.

The plot is not bad but it could have been better.

There is a certain melancholy surrounding everything in this movie and in combination with the slow pace it makes it unbelievably hard to maintain interest.

The cinematography is not bad .It is plain and simple.

The murder of Ellie and the murder of the child were heartbreaking even though they were not shown on screen .

I know it sounds weird but they were the most heartbreaking off screen murders I have seen. And for that it takes skill.

So my rating is 7 which is far above the actual movie rating for this reason.

Robots (I) (2023)

What a disaster

The idea was interesting but it was totally destroyed by The horrible jokes The idiotic characters The lack of a scenario It all feels like a horrible homemade movie. Nothing in the movie makes you laugh, or cry.

It is a shameful movie. Everyone participating in this should be ashamed of themselves.

I do not know what gave me such a drive to watch it until the painful ending Spoiler Alert: the actual ending of the movie is the weirdo "fat ninja" who is illiterate and brags about getting a job after sucking a guy in the toilets.

This is how painful it was.

Pls do not watch it. Do not waste time or money to watch this monstrosity.

Renfield (2023)

Great addition to the genre

This movie is a great addition to the comedy /horror genre and it will become a cult classic. Nicolas Cage portrays Dracula perfectly and the only thing I am a bit sad about is that his portrayal of Dracula could stand perfectly in a solid horror movie. I mean we could actually see an iconic villain in a long time. However the movie is not moving towards that direction ,thus Dracula is mostly a self-absorbent egocentrical being.

The movie could be a metaphor of all relationships that hurt us and make us lose ourselves. Renfield after many years realizes that he is being taken advantage of and decides to live his own life as a free man. So he does all the cheesy cliches and tries to shake off the victim mentality by buying motivational posters and rearranging his wardrobe. But the true change will come from within ,when he realizes that he is stronger than he thinks.

I also thing Akwafina was great for the part bcs she was fierce and funny at the same time.

I really liked the movie. However, it is not for everybody. It is gory,it is cheesy (deliberately) and the acting is over the top.

Therefore it is made for people who enjoy this type of movies. For the same reason that I cannot objectively rate musicals (because I totally detest the genre) , the bad reviews that I have read here are from people who obviously do not like these movies or have other motives. I cannot see any reason a person who enjoys horror comedies would not enjoy this one.

Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023)

Excellent movie

The movie has it all. Fast plot,fun characters. It is a perfect action movie. The cast has a great chemistry, they seem to enjoy themselves in the movie. I am a long time fan of Guy Ritchie's movies .He is my favourite director and I pretend I did not watch Aladdin. Anw , I like the fact that he is using the same actors over and over.

The plot is quite simple but there are many surprises since you do not know where the movie is going from the beginning to end.

I watched it today and I was so excited for a sequel. I hope it happens. I have the impression that the movie did not do very well at the box office but the team was great and I would love to see them again.

Entrapment (1999)

a good film

It is a good film. It is interesting ,it is good-paced ,neither fast nor slow. The action is very good as is the acting. But it lacks emotion and it also makes you feel uncomfortable because of the huge age gap between the protagonists. For sure, Sean Connery was a very attractive man at any age, but watching a very young Catherine Zeta Jones falling for him and even begging him to sleep with her ,is somehow not believable ,not even nice to watch.

Overall it is a good action movie, simple and does not have any gore in it. Nowadays, even comedies have turned gory, so rewatching older action movies has become my favourite new thing.

The Magician's Elephant (2023)

a wonderful movie

I was on Netflix last night ,not knowing what to watch. This appeared and I decided to give it a try.

What a wonderful heart-warming tale. The movie was very captivating and the story even though simple it was unique. This is a masterpiece of animation movies. And what made it even more exceptional was the fact that it kept you on your toes, made you wonder what is going to happen next whilst there was an exceptional element in the movie : the total absence of the Evil Guy.

There was nobody evil in the movie. Only the king was a complete moron but he seemed to be a good person besides being idiotic.

My kids loved the movie as well. It is a movie about family,for all the family. In my opinion this has the potential to become a classic movie. I really do not understand the 6,6 rating bcs this is a masterpiece.

Vampire's Kiss (1988)

A terrible movie

I thought this movie is comedy horror movie. Boy I was wrong.

It is a psychological drama about a man's descend to madness.

But it is badly executed.

Let me explain why this is a garbage movie.

1)it is too slow and boring 2) It is obvious from the beginning that the protagonist has serious mental health issues and it leaves out the possibility that something paranormal is actually happening to him, therefore the mystery is gone 3) I do not understand why his secretary allowed herself to be around him from the beginning 4) Even though the character is becoming totally crazy, he fails to scare the audience. We don't get to see any scene where we actually get to feel afraid of what he might do 5)He dies in a gruesome manner and it is sad because he has mental heath issues and does not deserve to die like this. He deserved to get some help and not be executed as if he was a vampire.

The Croods: A New Age (2020)

silly plot but totally enjoyable

I watched it on Netflix last night with my kids. Years ago I watched the first Croods movie and I remember it was funny but honestly I do not remember anything else from the movie.

This one is by far more memorable and it is REALLY FUNNY.

There were many things I did not like about the movie and its plot and I found some things ridiculous and very focusing on feminism (incompetent men waiting to be saved by strong women) .The kids did not notice it but it was very prominent throughout the film.

But the rating still remains high because it is very hard to find any kind of movies these days that can actually make you laugh out loud.

Creed III (2023)

an average film that is ok to watch but nothing extraordinary

I was invited to the avant premiere of this film in my country.

I have watched the other 2 Creed films and of course I have watched all the Rocky films made.

This is a decent film. Watching it in a theatre is of course a much better watching experience. I doubt this film would even look interesting on TV/computer screen.

There is some character development but not enough.

The problem with this movie is that the stakes are very low.

The "bad" guy is not actually bad. He is just a guy that has spent his life in prison whilst it was not entirely his fault.

Adonis is a retired boxer but he was a world champion .So facing an amateur boxer who spent his life in prison and at the end winning ,it does not come as a surprise. I would actually like to see Damian winning, just to see him succeeding for once.

The fact that Damian fought the Mexican boxer and beating him up badly and everyone was looking in resentment caught me off guard actually. I mean , boxing is a blood sport. A violent sport. What did the spectators expect to see? A ballet dance or something?

I saw Canello in the cast and expected to see him in the movie but he appeared for just 2 seconds and I was like OK.. Anw the stakes were low bcs Damian was a good guy.

If the villain was a true villain then the movie would be kind of more interesting.

The movie does not deliver. All the 9 and 10 stars for the movie are either paid promotion or were written by people with zero movie experience.

The movie can't be re-watched. It is one of those films that are simplistic and uninteresting.

Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)

what an awful movie

I watched the movie after it won the best actress Golden Globe.

I had high expectations.

I read so many great reviews, people saying what a great movie this is.

Unfortunately it is only a great mess.

The only positive thing I can say about this movie is that it is somehow original.

But it was unbearable. Terrible plot,terrible cinematography.

It looked like a fan made movie.

Some scenes were totally awful and hard to watch.

It was quite gory and disgusting.

I could not watch it until the end ,and even if I did, my opinion would not change. No ending can save an unwatchable movie.

I suspect that many people were paid to leave great reviews.

It is trashy.

Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)

visually stunning BUT lazy script

It was a very nice cinematic experience but the script was borderline awful.

The character development was awful. The bad guy turns into an avatar and the only thing he wants is to kill Jake Sully. That is pretty much it. He just wants to kill him.

He is in Pandora, the whole thing about the metal they were mining is gone. The humans also found a way to gain 80 million dollars from every whale-like being they hunted but this never comes into play.

The adopted daughter of Jake Sully has some powers that aren't specific. The whole movie feels like a documentary of the deep sea.

There are too many cliches in the movie and some awful dialogues. Like the phrase "if you can't get out of it, get into it" Jake Sully is also a terrible person.

The only thing the bad guy wants is him but he chooses to endanger his family and even though he leaves his forest tribe,he is putting in danger the sea tribes that agreed to host him and help him.

And the only guys who are actively hunting him are like 4-5 people. The stakes are too low.

There were some good moments but there were some ridiculous moments in the movie.

They focused on the beauty of the movie instead of the essence.

I don't doubt it will do very well at the box office. After all it is a very good 3D quality.

The Invitation (II) (2022)

It had potential but it did not deliver

This could be a good vampire movie but it was not. I gave it 6 stars though bcs I have seen much worse movies.

First of all, it is very dark to watch. Half of the movie I was struggling to understand what was going on in the dark and this got me tired.

So many scenes that could build some suspense were lost in the dark.

Other than that they did a good work with the scenery and the costumes . But the cast was not good at all. Seriously. They were more focused on the looks instead of the actual ability to act. Therefore some "strong scenes" were actually weak bcs a)no character development b)no acting ability.

The concept was good though. It is a pity that it did not go through.

The Bad Guys (2022)

Hilarious and interesting

This is a great movie. It has a great plot, it is so funny.

We have guinea pigs as pets and my kids were so thrilled with the movie.

Somehow you know what is really going to happen but you don't know how it will happen. It follows a basic plot about family and betrayal and things not being as they appear. But it has a lot of surprises on the way.

This works for me and as a person who has watched thousands of movies I am not easily impressed.

I wanted to watch the movie ever since I watched the trailer. I think that the producers did not do a good job to promote this movie.

It deserves more recognition and publicity.

We enjoyed every second of the movie. I highly recommend it.

Three Thousand Years of Longing (2022)

garbage

I had high hopes for this movie.

They were all shuttered.

Spoiler Alert: The movie is horrible .

First they speak "Greek' but nonsensical Greek with such a horrible accent , I initially thought they were speaking something else. The the Djinn says 4 stories to Alitheia. ALL 4 stories were nonsensical AND stupid AND ridiculous.

And they mostly take place in Istanbul. They could at least try to make the stories interesting and take place in totally different places.

Anw , after the 4 stories, the woman who was supposedly very self-sufficient and did not want anything from the Jinn ,asks for his love and commitment.

At the beginning of the movie she sees 2 creatures ,the one like an elf and the other like a ghost whilst no one else does. Later on she admits having problem distinguishing what is real and what is not real.

So the whole Djinn meeting does not convince anyone throughout this movie that it is real even though they should at least give it a try to convince us that he actually exists.

When she goes back to London ,her elder neighbours comment on her speaking to herself again. When she "introduces him to them" they just say hello ,and obviously they are playing along with the story their disturbed neighbour tells them.

The woman's name in Greek means Truth but there is nothing true about her. She is lost in her own imagination. And whilst we could have a strong character that can live on their own ,after some Djinn stories she is ready to have sex and live the happily ever after with her prisoner Djinn.

There is not any character development. Djinn who is supposed to be a superior being falls in love with women who don't give a damn about him.

He sticks around with the Turkish woman with the old husband but when he stays a few days in London he begins to disintegrate and so he leaves and goes to a Djinn place but visits her from time to time.

This is the movie , it is disappointing from the beginning to the end.

I wasted almost 2 hours of my life watching it, I am wasting another 15 min writing this review ,in order to save some time from other people's lives.

Don't watch it.

Much better movies with Djinn around.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)

What a movie

This is a great movie. It is so well constructed. Pedro Pascal and Nicolas Cage have an amazing chemistry. The movie has a bit of everything. Friendship, family issues, movie references, kidnappings, action. It is perfect the way it is.

I am a Nicholas cage fan so for me this movie was a delight. And it is the best movie he has had in years. Ironic though since he had turned down the idea of playing himself in the past, without realising that his fans really needed this. If you a a nick cage fan don't miss this.
