The Big Unanswered Question
5 February 2024
I waited 97 minutes to find out why Dan Akroyd was in that recording studio. I still don't know. As much as I loved the Blues Brothers, that doesn't make him a singer.

The only two huge stars of the time missing were Prince and Madonna. We learned about Prince in all his solitary weirdness but Madonna was mentioned only for a split second.

For anyone who's been in a professional recording studio, Cyndi Lauper having to remove her jewelry was hilarious. The microphones pick up everything, even the proverbial dropped pin. To anyone questioning why she was there, take a quick look at the pop charts from say 1983 to 1986 - there's your answer.

Ok as part of Netflix package

A couple of plot devices were distracting: 1. Sandra Bullock having a "sister" still in college. I know the movie is adapted from a miniseries but if Bullock had to star, it would not have compromised the plot much to change them to mother/daughter.

2. I dont know about the UK, but in the US, female killers are very rare. One that killed a cop would be quite infamous and very much in the local public eye. You would think that everybody in the Pacific Northwest would immediately recognize Ruth. Yet she walks the streets of Seattle in almost anonymity. Particularly funny were Vincent D'Onofro and Viola Davis being clueless that they lived in a murder house. Also the Bernthal character thinking that he was flirting with some random chick.

I was expecting Ruth's notoriety to be part of the story: think Jodi Arias, Casey Anthony, Amanda Knox.

Nevermind the five year old picking up that huge rifle and not having the bullet go straight to the floor or ceiling.
