An experience that stays with You!
13 January 2021
What a ride! This movie got so many aspects of depression on the right levels; Drugs, addiction, music, character's sense of the world, absence of outsiders and them having no influence on the character's will to live, character's guilt, lack of trust, him living in the past and so on. It's rare to find this perfect blend in movies, they always miss something or twist the story which doesn't fit viewer's experience but this movie got it all. The ending was so pure and original nothing less than the Andy's escape from Shawshank. Vibes of Boyhood (2014) mixed with determination portrayed in Gattaca (1997) and inflicts you with awe just as in Oldboy (2006).

Tenet (2020)
1/10
A perfect script that should be picturized into 2 films

This is my honest review. As a nolan fan I was obviously hyped. This movie started with a great heist sequence at a stadium followed by the real timeline, just the way Inception had that sequence in its beginning. The entire movie fell apart from there on. The idea of non-linear time is refreshing but Nolan did so little to show its implications. Since Tenet is an action movie, I was anticipating top notch mechanics with non-linear time and weapons. In the end it turned out to be exactly what Zack Snyder's did to Batman v Superman (2016). There was no emotional setting here in this movie maybe due to lack of character development of lead actress. There are several other problems with the movie but what disappoints me most is the philosophical aspect which you usually take from a Nolan movie. This movie lacks depth and does not capture the viewers. It feels like another indie action movie. 1/10 is definitely an exaggeration, maybe it's not a complete mess and kids may find it amusing and have a good time watching it.

Short Term 12 (2013)

Short, Wish it was Shorter!!!

The reviews got me, I got played. Sure, it shows how a Foster-Care Facility functions which could've been concluded in 5 minutes. The rest of it was absolute trash, No character development, No Plot or Drama just a bunch of overly zoomed-in shots on Poker faces and needless dialogues to fill in between. Sorry I can't sympathize with characters if I don't know how they feel. There are many movies that do better job depicting a disturbed childhood. What a disappointment.

Dunkirk (2017)

Drama and Nolan can't fit together
10 June 2018
Must say I am a big Nolan fan and I have enjoyed even the lowest rated work by him but this one is plain disappointing. There's nothing really to like apart from PG-13 Aerial skirmishes and feel of the air. The plot was poorly constructed, the characters didn't exist and the tension build-up, the thrill wasn't there. The entire movie was a collection of random action sequences, useless Jump scares with cheap sound tricks. The characters were for the most part "mute", guns and the spitfires spoke for the most part therefore we can't empathize with the characters. I failed to realize there actually was a situation and a win-condition. One has to be imprisoned first in order to be rescued meanwhile the two soldiers did everything to get their hands on knowing they are taking someone else's spot instead of just following the orders. But they can't be blamed, them along with 400,000 soldiers were assisted by 4 Military ships, 3 Spitfires and around 30 civilian boats. I understand the hype around Harry Styles, Please, Ladies you have made a mess around here. The most overrated movie of all time.
