A beautiful and thoughtful series that made me laugh and cry in equal measure. To write,direct and star in something this special and make it seem effortless takes a genius. Take a bow mr gervais . This is a masterpiece that I devoured in one sitting.

Canada can do great noir

My favourite recently viewed tv crime series are both American and Scandinavian versions of the killing and the bridge. That's not surprising you may say as most people rave over them ,quite rightly too. This Canadian crime drama manages in six episodes to evoke the quality of these much longer shows , especially the pacing and the dramatic scenery.I don't generally binge watch but this took me less than a day. Compellingly acted , Billy Campbell plays another great part ( Darren Richmond in the killing) and beautifully scripted and shot ,this series is never anything but gripping from start to finish. I have watched this on the bbc in the UK and have the second series ready to watch. I urge you to give this a chance.

Modern day noir which steadily builds the tension in a creepy understated way . You can't begin to guess what's gonna happen because the characters are unpredictable in many ways. Unsettling film that for all its good points just fails to reach my idea of a classic as it leaves you wanting a bit more punch st the finale
