Mediocre Horror with a Phenomenal Score
20 January 2023
Descent enough horror flick, but it helps tremendously if you're into Fulci. Not as much gore as one would expect based off of his past work. Has a clean look to it with plenty of atmosphere, but isn't going to blow anyone's socks off either. With that said, the score is without question the best and most enduring aspect of the entire movie. Fabio Frizzi 100% knocked it out of the park, with some of the best music you're likely to hear in a horror movie from any era. Don't miss it. As for the visual side of things , the movie is not gonna make any top 10 lists, but it's certainly not the worst thing coming from the genre in the early 80's. Check it out for the score alone.

3 words .... Rutger f'n Hauer
19 June 2022
Hugely enjoyable mess of a movie. The biggest knock against this Horror, Sci-fi, Buddy-Cop, Comedy mash up is that it doesn't know what genre it wants.

Who cares?!? It has Rutger Hauer at his badass oddball best. Great cast, great dialogue especially between Hauer and his new partner Allistair Duncan, great atmosphere, great everything. People calling it a ripoff of better 80's fare like Alien are focusing on the wrong aspects and missing the point. While it doesn't break new ground, it certainly doesn't disappoint. If you like any of the genres I mentioned above you will like this movie, it is an entertaining mess, with the keyword being entertaining, and isn't that why we watch movies, to be entertained?

Watch this, ASAP

Going in to this movie with low expectations is the best way to enjoy it. It's so much better than you expect to be, and I dig the noir-ish vibe and the sets and effects look great, even now. Pretty original premise is pulled off by having an awesome villain in Dr. Kessler, played by the guy who won a million oscar's for his effects work on the Lord of the Rings trilogy. If you like practical effects like i do then you won't be disappointed, he does a great job here. Add in the low key hot Jenny Wright as our heroine and you have a sure-fire guilty-pleasure horror sleeper on your hands. Watch this movie, ASAP!!!

I'm her father!...nah im just kidding, im a cop

I'm surprised this Robert Forster flick flew under my radar for as long as it did, because this movie is right up my alley. 80's cop action with more quotable lines then you can shake a stick at, I couldn't recommend this more. Robert Forster looks like he's having the time of his life, effortlessly firing out one-liners left and right. A memorable crossbow-wielding weirdo of a bad guy. Kanicki from Grease as a pimp named Cowboy. Not even 2 minutes in and you got a topless Teri Weigel earning her SAG card. What more could you ask for???

I love this movie

I've seen this movie countless times and it never gets old. If you love exploitation movies like i do then you have to see this endlessly entertaining piece of cinema. Linda Blair is smoking', John Vernon's a creep & Robert Dryer is the perfect evil/doofus mix as the villain Jake. There's even the prerequisite Linnea Quigley appearance that no 80's movie is complete without.

Contains enough gratuitous nudity, quotable lines, cartoonish bad guys and over the top violence to make this an 80's sleaze masterpiece.
