You (2018)
What happened to this great series?
I really really enjoyed the first 3 series of "You", especially the first two but wow, after watching the first episode of the fourth series I regret to say that I realise it is not for me anymore.
Ok, the mad killer used to narrate a lot but the first episode seemed like 80% of him yapping about basically nothing, going over and over the same ground again and again.
However, my main objection were the other characters.
What a totally obnoxious bunch they were, I could not stand any of them.
The other series had some likeable people in them, girls and boys but not this one. Just self centered gits who do not live in the real world. Hate them all.
Plus, how did Joe ever manage to live in Europe, then rent a huge flat in a posh part of London and become a Literature Professor in a London University'?
In England he would need at least a Ph. D and a lot of years of teaching. He has neither.
Ludicrous and horrible to watch.
Keeping Rosy (2014)
Got sick of the crying baby
I like Maxine Peake and the film started off well enough and I thought it might have turned into a good detective type of film, with Maxine getting deeper and deeper under suspicion. I had more than enough though when the whole film started to revolve around looking after the crying brat.
Hell Drivers (1957)
Gets better with age...like a vintage Port.....
I have seen this film many times and saw that it was on again tonight so I thought I would watch a few of the early scenes for old time's sake. Of course, it is so good I ended up watching the whole thing again...and loving it all over again! It is such a sound piece of film making...great plot, great writing, great acting....and set against the most urban and lack luster backdrops. Of course, there are the great individual scenes. The guys setting up Tom against Red in an early scene in the cafe. Red, riding the roads like a madman, guzzling bottles of Guinness. Red fighting Tom still having his roll up cigarette in his mouth (lol) and of course, the heart rendering scenes with Gino in the hospital. Great film...I just cannot praise it enough.
Alien: Covenant (2017)
What a Total Disappontment.....
Had waited for so long for this after the awful "Prometheus" that this was doubly disappointing. No more Alien films for me....just the first two. What a load of insulting crap! The Prisoner: Hammer Into Anvil (1967)
Excellent....
Excellent episode! I love at the beginning when Number 2 says he will "break" Number 6, Number 6 on his way out of the control room just utters a very ominous "Yes". From that moment on, we know we are in for some fun and games and boy, do we get them! One of my very favourite episodes.
Brian Sewell's Grand Tour (2005)
Excellent
An excellent programme. Very informative and very entertaining, all delivered in Brian Sewell's inimitable style! The different episodes are very varied and they take one on the Grand Tour in Italy as enjoyed by our debauched and privileged aristocratic predecessors. What makes it especially enjoyable (at least for me) are Brian Sewell's little vignettes of his personal experiences and emotions he had as a younger man when he visited these same places. It is also quite poignant to see him reliving these experiences and the effect it has on him. As always with Brian Sewell though, there is that very mischievous and controversial slant to his narrative that keeps one watching to find out what he is going to say next. A total pleasure, from start to finish. It makes a real change to spend some time in the company of someone who actually knows something about the places and artifacts that he is talking about, and someone who delivers a little passion with it. I can't recommend it highly enough.
