Geostorm (2017)

A geostorm of a movie

First off, SPOILERS: The movie "Geostorm" does not contain a geostorm.

But according to the movie, a geostorm would be when so many things go wrong that they blend together to create one awful mess that's 100 times worse than just the sum of it's parts. So in that way, "Geostorm," is itself a geostorm of a movie, even failing to succeed in the, "so bad it's good," sense.

"Geostorm," isn't worth watching, least of all to see a geostorm because as I said, the movie doesn't contain one, it just is one.

The Humanity Bureau (2017)

Yes it's bad and that makes it...well not good, but enjoyable.

Buckle up for obvious twists, nonsensical character motivations, poorly choreographed action scenes and many unintentionally funny laugh out loud moments like little Timmy's singing recital. To be honest I don't think his name was Timmy but even though I just watched this I already forgot what the kid's name was; throughout the movie everyone often calls him, "the boy," which is fitting given his bland and generic performance.

So yes, it's bad, all around bad, the script, the acting, the plot, but at this point what else would you be expecting from a Nicolas Cage movie. I saw his name and the silly sounding title, "The Humanity Bureau," and knew I would enjoy how sinfully sh*tty this film was going to be and it didn't disappoint. That being said I gave it a 6 because I did enjoy it and would probably watch it again with some friends for laughs, and I can't give a movie I would watch multiple times a poor rating.

Future Man (2017–2020)

In the tradition of, "Space Cop"

"Future Man," balances a mix of three genres, action, sci-fi, and comedy...in the tradition of "Space Cop." I felt compelled to mention "Space Cop," because although "Future Man," does give credit to some of the movies that obviously inspired it (and which it spoofs), i.e. The Last Starfighter, Back To The Future, and The Terminator, to name a few, it fails to give a shout out to the Red Letter Media guys even though right from the beginning we get voice over that sounds just like Rich Evans as Space Cop.

With that out of the way, I'm thankful to whoever at Hulu was bright enough to realize this show could work. "Future Man," is well cast, and well executed. It manages to be blunt with action and violence and subtle at the same time, making many jokes that could go by unnoticed if you aren't paying attention. And despite cookie cutter character archetypes, all of the actors give convincing performances that make me care about them and excited to be along for the ride.

If you enjoy sci-fi/action movies from the 80's and 90's,then I can't imagine how you wouldn't love, "Future Man," a series that both celebrates those films and pokes fun of them at the same time.
