Chappie (2015)
man bequeaths machine, machine grasps consciousness, reproduces
What is consciousness? Yes that is the right question. Chappie gives new meaning to 'thugs life' the humanity behind the inhumanity and expands the definition for all. The questions this leaves us with are varied and take paths that future generations will comprehend. Today and in this movie we understand compassion, greed, war, competition in the depiction of humanity the good the bad and the ugly. Will we be the ones to evolve past what we are today or will that torch pass to what/who we create, has this happened before...
The acting was great and my favorite similarity to that of a book, it let's what is left unsaid be the rich imaginary backdrop to a simple story.
The Devil's Rock (2011)
Enjoyed this although i am not a self professed horror movie fan
Entertaining, not too long, plausible (for the history and fantasy adepts among us), original story line, solid acting and hey, sure the quality of the effects would be at home in a B-movie but as indicated above the rest was well put together, i was entertained, she was sexy but dangerous and probably better than real all those loves (better?) left behind, oh memory can be such a harsh mistress.
As i mentioned, usually not a fan of the gore or horror, this was time well spent, enjoy.
Lucy (2014)
Great fun really, a bombshell, sci-fi galore, and something that stays with you
I really enjoyed watching this, i believe the movie looks if not too deeply at a choice we have to make over and over, should i follow what i believe is right and question this again and again as to expand my consciousness or 'tried and true, safe way that breeds frustration as i cannot possibly be happy by repressing the uniqueness of who i am by submitting to everything and everyone but believe this is safe'.
Really interesting and surprising at many instances, of course Luc Besson has contributed to many a blockbuster including the 5th element, Le professional, among others, i enjoyed the quality of the effects, the well supported story line and of course felt entertained once i viewed the whole movie, the riveting ending and the ongoing confrontation with the Korean gang, past the ending i did feel i learned something and that t me is always a measure of entertainment.

Loved how well this was done, left me with more than I came in with
In World obsessed with 'evolution' this movie in a quirky wonderful way confirms a sometimes vague feeling that all of us have or have once had.
There is something unique about each of us but it cannot be expressed until the moment that we find in ourselves who we are truly.
In this movie's desolate setting, it makes ask ourselves, because of it's seemingly benign and unassuming manner, a question to the child inside.
it connects and asks whether this is or this is not a world for the purpose of selfish fulfillment and either way what this might bring.
I feel this movie speaks about another level of being and warns against creating with today's vast powers (surprisingly pertinent) for the purpose of satisfying ego versus creating something within ourselves that can have a lasting value in the way it connects us to each other.
I thoroughly enjoyed the quality of this picture and it's message.
And i hope that each and every one of you will find the time experience it in your own manner, cheers.
Jupiter Ascending (2015)
Really impressive
The quality of the effects was awesome, i actually enjoyed the whole movie, never was i not entertained.
To be honest i preferred this to some recent star war movie.
I am so surprised that this hasn't rated any better, rent it, if you are a sci-fi buff you will certainly enjoy it!
Fifty Shades of Grey (2015)
well they could have done better with it.
The plot is interesting in essence and within itself wants to promote a fight between love, social propriety and lust, unfortunately the acting was uninspired, and the script never lead you deep enough to believe in the characters.
The film counted on an nonexistent 'edge' to keep us interested as it gravitated to and from the control freak billionaire's all too politically correct behavior and a an uninterestingly enacted (should have been all consuming) burgeoning love from his love interest, the ending was as well a let down depicting a woman's capacity to 'do the right thing' and all is well as ends well. We never get a feel for the tortured billionaire's psych or feel any of the many hooks that should have torn at his love interest, all to be overcome by her passion, love, what have you (This since she has the unique opportunity to be in relation with this powerful man).
All in all i feel let down, there is nary a statement made by this film other that 'stay in your safe place' lol
