The Meeting Place (2013)
The Meeting Place makes me smile, laugh out loud (not lol, mind you, but rather real old school laughter), and want to tell others, "Just see it."
Writer/director Scott Allen Perry and his unique take on filmmaking deserves a defining term (especially after 10 years and an impressive/entertaining oeuvre) . . . and I'm going to (attempt to) give him one. Perry is a kaleidoscopic filmmaker. In his always entertaining films and videos, he often takes takes a common everyday occurrence (here it's a business meeting) and adds the perfect amount of absurdity (in this case the meeting place & a trio of indelible characters played by Hannah Hall, Dan Lawler, and Perry himself). This colorful mixture instantly draws the viewer in and glues their eyes to that kaleidoscope for every second of the short's seven minute running time. What is seen and experienced in those minutes leads to lots of laughter and leaves the audience with a let's-watch-it-again feeling that's pretty damn rare these days.
What else can I say except . . . just see it.
