Tulsa King: Happy Trails (2023)
Great Show That Could Have been Made Better
So the entire Season is over with a Cliffhanger.
The story was apparently from the great mind of Taylor Sheridan but was written and Directed by others.
As another person said, this story could have benefitted from another 10th episode.
Everything felt too RUSHED!! It reminded me of Game of Thrones Series Finale when Aria killed the Night King and thus the entire zombie army.
The bar showdown was LAZY, rushed, contrived. You name it, The head biker gang guy died too easily and his hot headed bull rush into a bar while the guys inside hear the motorcycle rumble outside!
You would think that Stallone would have a lookout if he was staying frosty regarding a gun showdown. Also, you'd think that the head biker guy would go in SILENT without blaring his Harley engines as if it were a police siren from a mile out. *roll eyes*.
The other scene from the other episode where the head biker guy sends his BEST(!) man ALONE(!) to shoot up the bar and gets easily taken out when he was flanked was another *eye roll*.
It's such scenes that mystify me because they make it look like a keystone cop ooptie doo bumbling idiot show where Bugs Bunny Stallome runs rampant...with ease. No feel of true existential threat.
If they tighten up the lazy writing the show would be even better.
Regardless, it's worth the watch while surfing the internet on the sofa.
Cosmic Sin (2021)
Bruce has Become the NEW Nicholas Cage!
If you haven't been paying attention, look at IMDB for Bruce Wilis and observe hire MANY horribad low budget movies he's made. No other "once A-list" actor since Nick Cage has taken this unexplainable route.
I also suspect Bruce has a health issue because the number of his speaking lines in these movies is really limited...which would explain a lot, aside of his ego trying to stay relevant even if the plane is going down in flames with these movies.
Maybe an accountant has mathematically shown that more money can be made taking this route than making a high quality streaming TV series, but Bruce has firmly chosen this road and is ruining his once admirable legacy.
The movie is symbolic of the above.
...Take into for example the first 15 minutes. Human crew made contact and are infected and are taken into decontamination. No protocol is used as the space ship lands. The wisecracking soldiers walk the individuals inside as if the granma just arrived for Sunday supper...even though one girl is shoulder twerking with a white face and an ugly blister on her nose, another dude has also abnormal veins on his white face, etc. They get "decontaminated" in a shower area that looks like it belongs to a fitness gym by a dude in a painters outfit with a fire extinguisher. When all hell breaks loose and infected start attacking, the base alarm goes off...but no soldiers really come aside of the two that just died and were hesitant to shoot even as base people were dying. The Doctor doesn't want them dead at this point b/c they're beautiful to her. When the base goes on lockdown, the lights go red--the lights are the kind you buy at Home Depot and stick them against the shower tile of this "gym". The battle area now cuts into a bigger warehouse, like the stock room of your local Target.
The actors have blooper smirks(!) on their face throughout these scenes even as they're dying. The scene gets resolved with Bruce Willis "John Wayne walking" into the scene with a missile launcher and taking out the brood with an "explosion" that is weaker than a 4th of July kids party. The explosion is so wea(!)but takes out the brood at the extreme ends. LOL! At one point in an earlier scene, the Dr. Smirkingly says "I'm a doctor not a God" when one soldier asks her to fix his friend who's been shot in the head (YES!... Quality screenwriting!)
OH YES! I wanna see the Director's Cut and actor commentary!
Ok no more piling on the hate. This "movie"(?) is what it is.
My prayers go out to Bruce that he comes to his senses and figures out the sunset of his career.
Supernatural (2005)
My Favorite Show EVER!!!
I picked up on this show in Season 1 and became an uber fan. 15 years of my life! Wow! How can these characters not become part of your family!
The bonding of the characters and story telling always kept me coming back.
I understand why some people didn't like S15E20, but it wasn't bad at all! For us fans who are passionate, we want to see them ride into the sunset...a Hollywood ending (S15E19).
But the final ending was just fine. Everyone ended happy and ultimately fulfilled in the end, in a way that I would ultimately want them to.
I raise my glass in gratitude! This show will be near and dear and re-watched throughout my remaining years! God Bless to all associated with this show and may your careers continue to flourish!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 6: The Prisoner (2019)
Still Keeping Its Greatness!
Top notch episode! To see many aliens have acting roles from past Star Wars lore (original 3 movies) was a hoot!
Then watching Mando kick butt, but with fairness/nobility was keeping in line with how his character is protrayed.
Seeing the actor who played the Kurgan in "Highlander" was a treat. I can see that Favreau (who's of my age bracket) has a soft spot for characters he grew up with.
To that end, seeing the fantastically funny Bill Burr act means that Favreau also listens to his great Podcast. HAHA!
Returning to the episode, it had great tension and wonderment of how is he going to get out of this mess?! Plus the last 20 minute "despair vibe" I got from the original "Alien" was replicated here in a way too!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 3: The Sin (2019)
This IS the Way!!!...
This is how you continue the mojo of the Original 3 Star Wars movies!
This IS THE Way!
...I have Spoken!
Pandora (2019)
Horribad!
I'm watching an episode of this show. I can't stop laughing!
The acting is sub-par. NO chemistry among the characters.
The romance between the asian kid and the hot brunette girl is so forced and wooden. A perfect symbol of the inter-characterization.
Looks like CW is on a roll for CHEAP PRODUCTION bottom of barrel schlock: Black Lightning, Pandora, Outpost, etc, etc.
EDIT: Episode 5 & 6 have improved markedly. Maybe it's showing it can trot....
Black Lightning (2018)
Too Hard To Stomach Beyond Season 1
The writing/directing is cheese x10.
I feel as if I'm watching some poor acting on the Disney Channel mixed with Soap Opera. Horribad! Just plain horribad.
CW is doing a terrible job putting CHEAP CRAPPY shows on prime-time.....Black Lightning, Pandora, Outpost just to name a few.
Barry: ronny/lily (2019)
One of the Funniest Episodes of ANY Comedy Show
Pure hilarity from beginning to end.
When you think it's over, it isn't. Relentless to the end.
This is an episode you can re-watch many years later and still laugh your ass off!
Ramy (2019)
AMAZING Comedy filled with Genuine Warmth & Realism
Easily one of the best shows in the last decade. I binged through it. Something I never do.
Not being a Muslim myself, you witness universal truth how it is to be unfairly misjudged all accompanied by great sincere humor as we all evolve through this life in different age brackets (parents, sister, brother, friends) to be good human beings--excelling and failing all at the same time.
The acting, directing, writing is all TOP notch! Great casting all around.
I easily foresee this show winning awards this season!! It has that "it" factor!
Roswell, New Mexico (2019)
Really, Really Bad Romeo & Juliet Retread
I'm a huge fan of anything UFO.
I also have a HIGH tolerance for bad projects, so bad, that is good. Think of the movie "Flash Gordon" as an example of this.
So for me to give a 2* rating (which is generous for this show) should tell anyone how bad it is.
Horrid writing. Fomulaic. Uninteresting characters. BORING (how can you make UFO stories boring for crissakes?!).
They just dumped a Romeo & Juliet story into a UFO wrap.
Unfortunately, this show is DOA. I doubt it survives 1-2 seasons.
EDIT: So I've watched 6 episodes of this show to see if it has redeemed itself and established some legs. NOPE! It's just as bad. I'm deleting future show recordings from the DVR! Such a shame how horribad this show is.
Occupation (2018)
Wow! What a Clown Show! Red Dawn Wannabe....
It's 11PM. Netflix told me this movie was 99%. My wife just couldn't. She gave up after one hour.
I'm writing this review while watching the last 20 minutes....in order to SAVE humanity of boredom and anger for refusing to give up and watch this Oscar winner to the end.
To the Aussies: So you make fun of Americans for making some bad movies, eh? Well, if we're sitting in a bar drunk and you point to "He-Man", I'll point to this masterpiece. And I'll win that argument. Case closed. At least Dolph Lungren had a shiny cool sword.
Ok. Just now, he movie ended. The last scene was some Aussie carrying the Aussie flag over a hill of rubble with his buddies. *facepalm* So much cheese in this I could make a quesadilla!
I'm glad my wife went to sleep. She would not forgive me this Friday night if I'd force her to watch it to the end...she would make me clean the toilets in the house on Saturday morning--missing some football games.
Since Netflix gave a 99% recommend rating, I'm cancelling my account tomorrow. The fraudsters CANNOT categorize this movie (based on my high ratings I've given for top shelf stuff) equal to my other all-star favorites like "He Man"! Now way! No how!
And, because of this movie, I'm also taking visiting glorious Australia off my bucket list. The Great Barrier Reef is dead anyways and knowing my luck I'd like get bit in the ass by an Inland Taipan! :=/
Zoo (2015)
My OBLIGATION to HUMANITY to Write this Review!.....
I firmly believe the end of times are upon us. Hurricanes, evil politicians, terror acts. And now this show to add fuel.
Season 1 started off decent/tolerable. Then out of nowhere, surprisingly, the French actress bolted (i.e. killed off) in Season 1. She was Lead in a Tarantino movie and I guess she/her agent recognized the direction this show was headed. That should have been a WARNING SIGN to me! Season 2. Wow. That was a "jump the shark" (i.e. bad) season. I wanted to give up then and there but my significant other was still "interested". OK. So I watched it in the background while reading Reddit (cat/parrot videos of them doing silly things) on my laptop. I didn't want to influence anyone with my opinion of how BAD this show was, so I watched silently.
Season 3. Seriously?! Seriously CBS?! You actually put this on film?! This turned out to be as bad as any crapola movie on Scyfy! Like another viewer said, it was like "Sharknado" bad (I say MUCH worse b/c this show took itself seriously).
...........My wife OFFICIALLY gave up on Episode 10, Season 3. The invisible snake hatching and immediately eating the remote out of nowhere (WTF?!), the baddie girl (Abigail) REVIVING & undramatically shooting every IMPORTANT character out of nowhere (Red Wedding style), Mitch's dad activating the remote then destroying it EXACTLY WHEN Mitch was going to TELL them the "secret", then that old Battlestar Galactica actor acting all "Leaderish" in the police office--a level of acting so heinous/bad that my wife seriously questioned how could this actor have ever been cast (she surmised the actor must have naked pictures of the CBS CEO). I agreed--silently.
Now I am left with 3 Episodes of Season 3.....to watch by myself. My wife gave up. She NEVER, EVER....EVER gives up! This is unprecendented in 20 years of viewing crap shows together! We were a team dammit! Laugh together, die together. I had to grab her on the sofa viewing the later half of Episode 10 to come to her senses and FINISH watching it (like when that Mad Max bald baddie forcefully yet calmly held his "dog of war" after the boy killed his boyfriend). My wife had none of it. She was done. She went upstairs proclaiming "My sleep is more important!" CBS is rated #1 network in overall viewer numbers. Yes? They crank out Fall shows that stay around for years. Yes? So why o' why are the Summer shows so damn bad?!! "The Dome" was about as bad as bad could be. "Zoo" showed to be markedly better (at least Season 1). Then it evolved to BECOME WORSE than "Dome"! How is that even possible?! Did they lose all the writers of the show and emergency staffed it with some potheads from "Five Guys" down the street? Jeezus Christ!! So, in conclusion (I can't believe I've written this much about this clown show), my advice is to AVOID this show on your DVR/Netflix or whatever. I have taken the knife for humanity so you may not suffer (watch re-runs of "Falcon Crest" if you must). Just Run!.....RUN away!....or suffer the consequences! As for me, like a kid in a booster chair, I WILL finish my greens (with tears in my eyes)! I will finish the LAST 3 Episodes of Season 3. AND I WILL HOPE & PRAY CBS CANCELS THIS SHOW.
Now more CBS Summer Shows for me. They are horrid! Fool me once, shame on you (i.e. Dome). Fool me twice (i.e. Zoo), shame on you. Fool me thrice, shame on ME! No MORE!! (...ummm, unless it's a angsty supernatural show, cuz I like those, haha!...I kid! I kid!)
