Somebody I Used to Know (2023)
A misguided My Best Friend's Wedding
I went into this movie with no expectations and realized this is a My Beat Friend's Wedding remake but without the charm and humor. I enjoyed My Best Friend's Wedding but didn't enjoy this film. The FMC was not likeable and I didn't truly understand why she was doing what she did. To me it was all ego and I wasn't rooting for her to have a beautiful life after she tries to blow up her ex's life. Her friend Kayla was more like able then the main character. She showed emotions in this film. Enjoyed Cassie's character. Truly enjoyed her mom through the film. She was funny. If you've seen My Beat Friend's Wedding, you've basically seen the movie in totality.
Good Luck to You, Leo Grande (2022)
Very insightful
Please give this movie a chance. The movie has so many layers and I think people might miss some. It's the understanding of two people learning to be naked while being naked. It's the intimacy of it all which people miss. This is movie about the art of connecting with someone, letting go of control and allowing yourself to be free. Feel pleasure. For Nancy, it's the idea that she didn't think she deserve or know how to receive pleasure. She has to control things and for Leo, he thought he could perform without being truly naked. She had an issue with actually being naked and he had an issue with being " naked" emotionally. I thought it was well put together and showed all sides. Beautifully written and very well paced with laughs on the side.
365 Days: This Day (2022)
OMG that was bad
I truly enjoyed the first movie even though it was controversial. The dom/ sub aspect and the kidnapping didn't bother me at all. I was invested and wanted to know what happened to Laura.
This movie was horrible. It swept up what happened to her as an accident. We don't know how she lost the baby but she had an accident. The twin brother was a dead give away even if you didn't read the second book. The sex scene was ok but lacked the passion like the first one and the music didn't strike a nerve with me. Could of had a V8 instead of watching this. Very disappointing as I waited 2 years to find out and still in the dark 2 hours later.
He's All That (2021)
OMG. Kill me now 😩
I was a huge fan of the original movie. This movie was cringeworthy. The script was horrible and the actors unfortunately were not believable. What hurt the most was diminishing the character, Laney Bogs, from the original to a bitter workaholic single mom. The original didn't need a remake and we see why. If I could give 0/10, I would have. A waste of 1 hour and 31 mins I'll never get back.
Save the Last Dance 2 (2006)
Lacking Something
I just recently saw this movie because I really was looking for a movie to watch. I had already read he comments for this movie before I saw it. This movie was lacking something. I mean the chemistry was OK between Sara and Miles but the dance movies was horrible. A viewer could tell that the new Sara could not dance hip hop. The way it went with the music was just bad. I did like the plot and the meaning behind the movie. The way Sarah acted and her ballet was excellent though. The funny thing is that you can tell that the actress used to be a ballerina in real life. I did love Miles. He really is why I watched the movie for the second time. He is really cute and his smile does light up the movie. But after everything was said and done, the movie was just missing something that I can put my foot on.
Nine 1/2 Weeks (1986)
Interesting movie and great
This movie was very interesting and had a great background story. I had never seen this movie before but I kept on hearing about it after nineteen years. I had to see the movie " Wild Orchid" and I fell in love with Mickey Rourke. I wanted to see what he looked like before he had the implants in his cheeks. I thought he looked sexy and so did Kim Basinger. But it was Mickey that kept drawing me to this movie.
The premise of the movie is about an art dealer named Elizabeth that was going through a divorce. She did not think very highly of herself and she kind of lost her sensuality. She meets this man named John and he buys her this expensive gift to start off their rocky relationship. The viewer can tell the man is rich but you really do not know what he does for a living. He wines and dines her. Before she knows she is doing things that she would not do. She lets him blindfold her to show that she trusts him and lets him buy her clothes. I love it when he says that he wants to cook for her, bathe her, dress her and etc. I guess it sounds very good that a man wants to all this but then you realize that she is a grown woman that can do all this herself. The second interesting part is when he picks out a suit for her and she says don't you want to know if i like it. he says no. It was all about manipulation all through the relationship. The breaking point was when he had her blind fold herself in this hotel, only to let a hooker try to feel her up. He was watching the whole time just to see if she was going to let this happen just to please him. Finally, she fights back and refuses to let this happen. She starts to leave and he starts getting it on with the hooker. Elizabeth breaks it up and tries to show him how she feels by going into a strip club to kiss a total stranger. But she does not have it in her to be like him. In the end she gets out of the bed in tears and starts packing her clothes. She is strong enough to leave this S&M relationship because it is not healthy for her.
This movie surprised me in the end because I thought he was going to run after her. Mickey was very sexy and fine in this movie. He sold this movie to me. Kim was great at the feeding scene in front of the refrigerator. Even though this movie was not a block bluster movie it still has a good plot and point to the story. After really thinking about the movie I realized that he loved her in the end of the movie. Although he made her go through all these things, he was testing her on how strong she cared for him. During the movie,it portrays John as this heartless and mysterious man that you can not understand. But in the end you realized that he was a man that hid behind his games so he did not get hurt. John got hurt at the end even when he tried so hard not to.
I highly recommend this movie because it was a great movie.
Saw II (2005)
A wild ride of screams and blood
I loved this movie. It kept me guessing most of the time but when I thought i had come up with the answers it was too late. I loved the interaction with Jigsaw and Eric Matthews. It was vivid and a great performance. I really liked the back story they gave on him and understanding what goes on in the mind of a mad man. There was familiar faces in this movie and ones you just meet. The only thing about the movie that I did not like was that in the first one he let you see a lot of different people making choices and getting killed for those choices. In the second one there was not many that you see. This movie comes very close to the first one but does not quite surpass it. The action was very good and the pace of the movie was excellent. There was never a dull moment in the movie and it was always keeping you in tuned. I would go see this movie again but I really do not think that it would have the same impact as the first time seeing it. It is not like the first one where you have to see it two and three times to catch the point of it. But all and all I recommend people to see the movie.
The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants (2005)
Great
I liked The Sisterhood Of the Traveling pants because it showed four different women going through four different situations. I liked Lena because she brought out the conservative side in you. She was nice and sweet and it was good to see her have fun. I really liked the guy Costas,he was so cute. The writers wrote something good with her because she finally came out of her shell and had a good time. I think it was Greece and it looked great. Carmen I really liked though the step son was perfect for her so i wished that she could have gone through that with her dad and meet a cute boy maybe so she could have had a love interest too. So maybe I wish he wasn't her dad's step son but someone she meets while playing tennis. Tibby's was great I would not have changed anything. It made me cry and I loved every minute of it. Bridgette's was OK. I guess I really can not say anything because I do not know what would have changed it. But when they were together it was magical. Oh I liked how you did not stay with one person too long.
Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)
Awesome
I thought Mr. and Mrs. Smith was great. It had just enough action scenes to make it an action film. I liked the comedy. Brad Pitt fit very well as a comedienne and he look so good. He was smart like a younger James Bond and he was very agile. I like the sex scene but I wish there could have been a little more than there was. Angelina looked beautiful. She was the perfect fit for this role even better than tomb Raider. I like that they both did not over power the screen meaning they had their own way of bringing the story to life. It would have gotten a 10 but I did not like the ending. I wanted more and it did not give that to me. But all and all it was great and I wish they would come out with a second one which I think they will. I recommend a lot of people to see it cause it is not just one genre but a whole bunch of different ones.
