The Time Traveler's Wife (2009)

Mostly Dull With A Dash of Emotion

I first have to say that I was really excited to see this movie, simply because the trailers made it look amazing. It had a ton of potential, being that it was a new idea and they could take it and run with it. I get that it was based on a book(one i've never read) but really, this was mostly just...dull. There were times when I really felt for the characters, but mostly I think they focused on the time traveling itself too much and forgot to clue the audience in on just how important Clare and Henry were to each other. Half the time I felt like they didn't even really like each other that much.

However, there were moments where I found myself semi-enjoying myself. The acting was moderately good, not Rachel McAdam's best but still pretty good. At times you could see a glimmer of a strong relationship and love between Clare and Henry and you could feel about that. You could also feel very deeply for her want and need to have a child.

Bottom line: The movie tried to mask the fact that little happened except time travel, but it didn't do a very good job of hiding that. Give it a watch, see if you enjoy yourself, but you might find yourself yawning. 4.5/10

Great for its time and the genre

I Know What You Did Last Summer.

While the movie itself may not be one that everyone has seen, you can probably be sure that almost everyone has heard the title, either in passing reference or a joking manner.

Julie, Ray, Barry and Helen are recent graduates of their local high school, and it is quickly conveyed to us that all of the characters have something great going for them-the beauty, the football star, the brain, and the cute, sweet, sensitive guy who is trying to fit in with the group. So, naturally, this being a horror movie, everything is bound to go wrong sooner rather than later.

Driving home from the beach they accidentally run over a man in the road and seemingly kill him, and then dump his body in the ocean. A year later they've all tried to move on with their lives, until Julie receives a letter in the mail-"I know what you did last summer."

It's 2010 and when watching this movie you have to recall that it was made in 1997. So expect to see bad clothes, not so great hair, and not so great music. The plot itself holds up really well, and is really engaging. It appeals to the what if sense-that sense that everyone has- this is so far fetched, but what if it happened to me?

For a 1997 horror movie, it was really well. There wasn't much blood, meaning you aren't going to get nauseous watching this film. Most of the characters are likable enough, and your heart pounds as you watch the chase scenes.

As for a thriller/suspense/horror movie, it was pretty original. Watching this type of movie, you sort of expect to see something unoriginal, something you've seen before. But this movie gives a fresh twist to things, and keeps you guessing till the end.

Bottom line, it's worth seeing just to keep yourself occupied for 100 minutes.

You'll get quite a few jumps and scares out of it and won't feel like you've wasted your time.

This movie broke my heart in a major way. It also enlightened me. I mean, everybody heres the horror story's of girls in abusive relationships. And your first thought is, how can she stay with him? And how do u let it get as bad as Stacy did? But this really is a great movie. I saw it in Health class, and i was just so sad. Stacy was brutally murdered and she didn't have to be. If someone had just spoken up, or noticed something. It's scary how in love she was with him, and how much he controlled her. THIS WAS BASED ON A TRUE STORY! So everybody should try and look out for their friends. I hope that if something that horrible was happening to me, I A. would have the sense to get out, or B. Have good enough friends to help m.

The Breakfast Club (1985)

A classic forever

This movie had great characters. It also had a funny dialog, and great actors. Bender portrayed a wonderful criminal, and Emilio Estevez's character was artfully played. I really felt that I was seeing into what a teen in John Bender's situation would be feeling. The scene where he was yelling at Molly Ringwald's character touched me. I agreed completely with Bender's accusations. I felt that at the end of the movie I knew the characters well. The direction in this movie was astounding. I couldn't believe how well the director cast the characters. Allison was a hysterical yet deep addition to the cast. I wished I could have been friends with them. See this movie, you can't miss it. A complete classic for years and years to come.
