Saint Maud (2019)
Not a traditional Horror
As a decent further into madness this works well, but it is by no means a traditional Horror movie, very reminiscent of Babadook, or. William Friedkin's Bug. The ending however is extremely effective.
Cheat (2019)
Engaging
An engaging drama, well acted and keeps you watching till the end, but my oh my what a seriously crap ending. It just rival Brighton Rock, (2010 version) as possibly one if the worst endings. Pity really.
Two Graves (2018)
Okay for a low budget British crime drama
First of all I have to say this is actually okay, and I am quite fussy. I suppose as I am British I do like British dramas. And Katie Jarvis is quite a charismatic screen presence. She may be restricted to parts for londoners, but then you could say that of Jason Statham.
The Hill (1965)
Compulsive viewing
One of the best movies ever made. Compelling story of inmates in a army prison during World War 2. New arrivals have to deal with the heat, a rigid regime and a new Staff guard eager to make a name for himself. A masterclass in character driven drama that makes all action driven, over the top, stunt laden, explosion filled, car-chasing, fight filled flicks pale into insignificance. Sean Connery's best with Ian Bannen, Harry Andrews, Ian Hendry et al all on top notch form. Special mention to Ossie Davis with a sparkling performance. Some people may be put off by the Britishness of it all, but the conflict and the tension is multi-lingual in its hostility of human discord.
