Bug (2006)
an amazing movie with great acting and direction
I love IMDb. While watching this movies commentary I was beside myself waiting to see what great things people were saying about it on IMDb comment boards. Of course I then see nothing but negative responses to what I thought was surely some sort of Oscar buzz performances from the actors. I guess sometimes I forget how simple 90 percent of Americans really are...they hear key words about a movie like horror film, intense action, or Ashley Judd nude, and immediately assume it will be some picture that appeals to their most common cinematic backgrounds i.e. anything that other people tell them is a great movie. I mean seriously, how could someone watch this film and think "oh the acting is just OK" or that the plot was revealed to them in an obvious way. You people are complete idiots, this happens nearly every time a stage production is brought to the big screen. It's dialog you idiots...you have to actually grasp the performances that your receiving...When a director chooses to bring theater to life on celluloid they make decisions on how to capture the essence of a play. Friedkin choose to let the performances stand on their own...The clue should be given when one realizes the action takes place almost entirely in one room...think stage here...Doesn't anyone see the drug metaphors, do anyone even know what a metaphor is? The people who respond negatively are really showing their ignorance, any director could have turned this into some action packed blockbuster, it took an artist to portray the brilliance of great stage writing.
My Big Fat Independent Movie (2005)
This Movie Is The Worst Thing I've Seen In Years
I cannot believe this abysmally horrible film is actually playing on Sundance as I type. I get it...they're making fun of independent films being popular now...since they have been hip to the concept for sooooo long...I'm sorry though...if you are going to make fun of the concept of being original and creative before every third rate hack artist steels your ideas and make them a cliché bit of Americana melodrama, you might want to start by being at least seminally clever.
Because seriously...every film parodied in this z list hack job has been systematically appropriated by every pencil necked idiot with a digi-cam.
If I had a nickel for every idiot who thought that they were into film for their obvious appreciation of appreciated independent films, then I would be rich (culturally rich) enough to not participate in these insipid forums...
It is so poorly written, directed, produced, and acted in, that it should never be discussed or viewed again.
The Oh in Ohio (2006)
strange movie
I love every last one of the actors in this film...and I come from Northeast Ohio...but I just don't understand what happened with this film. It was all over the place...the dialog was realistic in the sense that people don't really speak so eloquently in real life, yet it was so mundane that it simply became uninteresting...in my opinion...there was such good character development that occurred in the first part of the film, but nothing happened story wise...it was like a slice of life picture...for people with really boring lives. Kept waiting for them to camp it up and make fun of Cleveland or something...instead it was like one of those commercials to vacation in such and such state...they must have named dropped that they were in Cleveland 20 times...
Believe it or not...I still enjoyed the movie for the most part...just used to so much more from all the talent in the film.
