Gwen Shamblin: Starving for Salvation (2023)
Awful awful awful
Like previous reviewers, I had never heard of Gwen Shamblin.
The story itself was mildly interesting, but that's it. The acting, with the exception of Jennifer Grey, was atrocious. The sets looked like they had been built in someone's garage, and the script was choppy and amateurish. The wide-eyed parishioners behaved like brainwashed Moonies who hung on to her every word.
Just like Jim Bakker, Robert Tilton, Ted Haggart, Jimmy Swaggart, and other "Christian" leaders, Gwen became money-hungry and obsessed with her church. She believed herself to be above her own rules, and believed that she was specially chosen by God. This is an old story, told and retold many times --- only the names are different. **yawn**.
Don't waste your time with this one. Do something more interesting, like watching your grass grow or wallpapering the bathroom. You will thank me.
A Quiet Passion (2016)
A great opportunity squandered
Wooden dialogue, stiff delivery, bleak story. Even the terrific and talented cast can't salvage the strained dialogue. Skip it. You would have more fun polishing the silver.
My Other Mother (2014)
awful awful awful
The main character is spoiled and bratty, the story is weak, and as a member of an adopted family I can assure you that it oversimplified a very serious situation. I'm also shocked that this is the sort of stuff that the wonderful Lynn Whitfield is doing these days.
A Winter Wedding (2017)
Awful Awful Awful
The story is awful AND the acting is awful. The only appealing thing about this movie is the location. The bride is a pushover and the bride's mother is unbearable. What a waste of time!
Locked Down (2021)
I gave it one star only because zero stars wasn't an option
What a waste of good talent. Just awful. That is all.
Coming 2 America (2021)
Possibly the worst move I have ever seen
Terrible story, terrible acting, terrible everything. I would actually give negative stars if I could. Absolutely awful. Awful Awful Awful
A Royal Christmas Ball (2017)
Worst.Movie.Ever
The best thing about this movie was the King's blue eyes. Tara Reid, do something about your posture.
Diamonds to Dust (2014)
Absolutely awful
I would give zero stars if that had been an option. Poor acting and historical inaccuracies plague this film that looks like it was filmed in someone's garage. Just ugh.
