Fear the Walking Dead (2015)
Horrible mess of clichés and irritating characters
First off I am a huge fan and follower of The Walking Dead and I went into this knowing that it was a completely separate beast that would bare little to no relation to the original however I did not expect such a disaster. I am a massive fan of the genre as a whole and this brings nothing new at all, everything has been done a hundred times before and a hundred times better. Every character is clichéd, moronic and irritating. The decisions they make are just bizarre, nobody listens to anybody else and they constantly argue. You not only don't care what happens to them but you find yourself actively hoping for their demise, particularly Nick, the heroin addict who is a hateful selfish mess who seems to have a weird inability to brush his hair. The army pop up and behave like boorish bullies saying things like " We need to just keep putting holes in these skinbags SIR!"...horrible. The acting is bad, the sets look amateur, the script is ridiculous and every time the barber guy opens his mouth to tell some long winded tale of woe you will literally roll your eyes and sigh. Silly, dull and irritating which is such a terrible shame.
[Rec] 4: Apocalipsis (2014)
End it....now
I didn't know this existed.I was so excited. The 3rd one was a mistake and a weird mess.....let's hope they return to the brilliance of Rec!! I'm a zombie geek.....a massive fan and I know we all argue about shamblers and the rabids but either way, they make a good film. I love Rec....LOVE IT! Possibly my favourite Zombie film ever and I won't apologise to the traditionalists yet.....they've ruined it. What started off as a brilliant found footage on firefighters and ended in a bloodbath of zombie horror ended in a weeping, horrible, accidental copy of the doomed Resident Evil franchise. I really hoped this would redeem the strange event of Rec 3, and it tried, but the reference to it throughout just reminded me of the mistake. Look.....I adore Rec 1 and 2.....but sometimes, like the dead, just shoot it in the head.
The Wolfpack (2015)
Make your own mind up........
As a documentary this is a weird and strange insight into an isolated life fuelled by movies and music..... or it's not. A tale of a family of brothers, 1 sister, and mum and dad who live on Manhattan Island, New York City, and isolate themselves from society with only the father allowed keys to the front door and any real access to the outside world. The brothers become obsessed with movies, write out entire scripts and re-enact them with very impressive props and homemade costumes. They then discover, when one turns fifteen, that maybe they don't have to be so confined and can venture out alone ( be it dressed in a homemade horror mask ) Whilst I have very little doubt that this is a genuine family I do have doubts that this is a genuine tale. For having lived a life of such social isolation they seem the nicest and most balanced young men, although to be fair society isn't exactly balanced in itself so that's not a great example of why this seems such an unlikely truth. As mentioned before there is a lot that doesn't add up, why live in Manhattan? Why allow the kids such access to media and film when you believe society is corrupt? Why did a SWAT team show up during the documentary when the kids had been playing with prop fire arms for years? And so many more questions...... I have to say that I had doubts within the first 20 minutes as to the authenticity of this documentary. If it is authentic then it's an extraordinary tale, if it's not then I don't see the point. Sadly I think the latter. I found it hard to rate because of this so I gave it a 7 as it's either a real good old story or a hard to discern hoax.
American Crime Story (2016)
Painfully awful
This has got to be one of the worst television events I have ever seen and, believe me, I watch a lot of television. The acting from every single cast member is cringe worthy and the casting of Cuba Gooding Jr is hard to fathom, he's whiny, tiny and sniveling in almost every scene, it's hard to believe he has an Oscar. David Schwimmer is equally as pathetic and is used as a vehicle to drive the God awful Kardashian clan needlessly into the action. it's like watching what Ross from friends did after the rest of them moved on. Hateful. The script is shocking and you can literally see people waiting for their cue for their next line. It dampens the seriousness of the race relation difficulties by forcing this down our throat at every given opportunity and portrays almost every black character as shouty and angry. I really don't want to watch anymore but cannot drag myself away from the comical horror show of it all. If you decide to watch be prepared to watch the Kardashian devil spawn sing a song about their name ( I nearly punched myself in the face just to lessen the irritation ) and to hate the word juice forever more.
