Very disappointing
18 February 2024
Although I'm very familiar with the history and the physics, I was still excited to see the make a great Netflix documentary and see how they plan to together his only slight relationship with the Manhattan project, and maybe more bio before, and after producing general and specific theories of relativity.

But my largest complaint aside from Netflix, not doing the above is that this piece is completely all over the place, jumping timelines out of order going from one date to the other any linear storytelling and more over, I don't think they knew what they wanted here. What you get are bits and pieces of Einstein's history, bits and pieces of the rise of national socialism and the Nazi movement bits and pieces of where Einstein went and some of what he spoke about but only some; and very much a fractured history lesson on the persecution of Jews on the holocaust. Any of these would've made a fine documentary if they stuck to something and showed at Einstein had something to do with any of it or how he was affected by it, but this was trying to be everything at once and not being many bad mini documentaries. Also, I totally agree with some other comments that it seemed rushed.

Great show but Anime dubbed !
11 February 2023
I Iove the show and put up with "paying the price" for it's character with hysterical Anime english dubbing and Japanamation triple and double cuts - that is until I showed it to my daughter who agreed but said, "Dad, you have to watch it in Korean with subtitles" - I immediately felt stupid (Although its srill really bad, formal Korean to English translation)

The premise, the casting, the athleticism and the challanges are all firdt rate - well thoughtout and executed by the producers who obvious unddrstand how to build characters and rivalries. It shows the advantages of true teamwork but still retains the "survivor" aspect of well placed cut-throat gamesmanship.

Definitely a fantastic watch!

Please..... These JA cultists are lost
19 July 2022
Yes, for all you Jane Austin book club fans in your women's only meetings, discussing how men suck and what your cat did that amazed you last night, this ISN'T your film. Stick to trading her work by HER. This is a really well done modern reimagining of a a classic JA work, BUT IN IT'S own voice. Like the best song covers, they are NOT intentional duplicates of the work but covers in the new artists vision and voice. This movie does change many stereotypes of JA works but many of those times and themes are steals from Shakespeare! So if you're looking for fun banter, great 4th wall breaking and good acting, WATCH THIS MOVIE. You'll enjoy the directors and actors voice on an old outdated theme - but also without JA's racism, sexism or upper class discrepancy.

HBO's "Crashbox" for adults?
8 February 2022
A fresh, and funny idea destroyed by writers who haven't a clue about real improv. Take the foudation of bringing in cold actors/comics to improv a detective series then box them into having not an inch to apply their craft, humor or just run with sometning and you have a show where untalented writers and producers suck the life and talents from those who do. If this iscwhat is being taught for writing and improv, get ready for tons more really bad programming ascwe don't already have enough. Conan, Annie Murphy, et al could have made this a wonderfully entertaining and fun really different work of art. Rather it comes off like a segment from an after school kifs show on HBO or ABC. THANKS.

American Horror Story: The End (2018)
Season 8, Episode 1

Hope it gets better
13 September 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Great start with a good premise that morphed into a strange Victorian cult approach with a mismatched, strange set. You would think that after all the Govt. planning, they would be kept in a state-of-the art science facility. Intensley exploring the genetic mysteys of the occupants but no - were in a shabby bunker set that looks like it had a Victorian make over. Along with the staff looking like Scarlet O'Haras - AND with secret alternate motives that have nothing to do with the current situation. Hopefully it will all pan out.

A twist toward the end is straight out of Creepy/Eerie magazine and that worked well when I was 11

Lets hope they rock the rest - the ads looks so promisimg!

The Monster (2016)

Sorry, this is NOT a horror movie
13 November 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Not in the literal genre sense anyway, and for those who gave this film a low review based on it being one, you missed the point. This a very well directed and bravely acted dark, coming of age-way too soon film. Not giving anymore away, every mom and daughter should see this film. In fact, every dad and daughter should as well if they're old enough to get the message. It's beautiful, but intense. Scripted and acted, again, amazingly. When watching, take special note to the almost singular point of view of the story. Watch carefully the very detailed flashbacks contrasted with the more opaque monster sequences and you'll get the really strong point to this film, and how artfully it brings you there. So forget about the scare factor, I'm sure there's another Final Destination being made, and enjoy a rare find that challenges traditional film genres and delivers on message.
