The Last Voyage of the Demeter (2023)
Characters are way too oblivious!
There were so many clues. Yet the characters remain completely oblivious. Examples include: (1) at least two shipmates abandoned the ship at the beginning and warned about the boxes with the dragon symbol but no one figured to look for those boxes when the killings started to happen (2) the woman who was in one of those dragon boxes but no one heeded her warnings about Dracula (3) the animals and humans only got bitten at night so everyone knows the creature is afraid of the sun. More evidence he is afraid of the sun came when the two persons bitten burned in broad daylight. Yet no one tried to find Dracula and drag his butt out in the sun to burn, burn, burn! (4) At one point, they found the box with the Dragon symbol where Dracula slept and concluded that this is where he slept. Yet they chose not to haul that box out in the sun and open it so Dracula can burn to death?
There were just too many mindless mistakes. Perhaps I am not supposed to think when I watch these kinds of film.
I gave it a six because there are worse movies out there. This movie was annoying at times but also somewhat bearable. A movie that is a five or six generally contains annoying qualities, especially qualities meant to drag out the movie and bore the audience to death.
Run Sweetheart Run (2020)
May keep you on your toes but with some holes
I have a very short attention span and there is just enough suspense in this movie to keep me watching. The concept of run something run (for example "Run Lola Run" is not new.
But there are scenes where I would've wanted to know in more detail, like the scene where the antagonist reveals himself to the protagonist. However, we don't get to see who he is or what he looks like. Towards the end, we get to know what he is but only through words. It's vague about what the antagonist is. There are also scenes where the antagonist is ripping people apart or killing them. In those scenes, you don't get to see what's going on. You only hear sounds. The reason for that could either to be to save dollars on special effects or it could be a way to allow the audience to guess or imagine what's going on.
Overall, you may enjoy it if you like cheap thrills that's not too scary like the movie Scream but with less jump scares.
