Forza Motorsport (2023)
Seems a shame
The physics seem fantastic and the races so far are fun! Online multiplayer also seems much better with penalties in place to discourage ramming etc, along with a player rating & score! However the introduction of car leveling for me, takes the game from a solid 9, to a 4/5, one of the best things about forza was jumping on with your mates, making a mini challenge and upgrading car after car, unfortunately for working people this is no longer an option, which seems a real unnecessary change.
This addition seems unneeded and not particularly well thought out, hopefully in future they change this to the old method even if its just for online use and single player remains the same.
Ahsoka: Part Three: Time to Fly (2023)
Wheres the interest??
So far this series had a huge hype, I think everyone and myself were excited to see the follow up to rebels ending and Ashokas story continue.
And although this is what we get, I can't help but be unsatisfied with the series so far.
Where is the action? Where is the danger? I feel like it is a given that our hero's will never encounter any real danger which is extracting my enjoyment from this series, Disney just doesn't seem to have it nailed.
I'm also not a huge fan of Sabine becoming a Jedi, this is just Disney just pushing another strong female lead in our faces, which I am 100% not against, but not every series/ female character needs to do this, it would.be refreshing to see Sabine continue as a mandalorian and use those traits more.
As a side note, I can't get past the quality or Ashoka & Hera's head pieces, they look awful.
Overall, currently unimpressed, and uninterested, the villains however are the only strong point of the show so far.
House of the Dragon: The Black Queen (2022)
Good, not great
Spoilers marked ahead, okay to read.
This episode had some amazing cinematic shots, the show looked fantastic. And it was amazing to see some more of the dragons that until now we've not really seen.
But a few things felt rushed, and glossed over abit quick to make way for a grand spectical and the end; which worked, but it wouldve been nice to see other specs of this episode fleshed out abit more, so we can attach to the characters about it.
The cgi was nice, and the call back to earlier episodes was a nice touch also.
- SPOILERS -
Vhaegar destroying Arrax was awesome to see! And the cgi was great, also a nice twist to see Aemond losing control over his dragon but it does beg the question of how Daemon found out so fast? Does he have a text alert?
Overall a good episode, felt a little S8 GOT speedwise, but not bad. 8/10.
House of the Dragon: The Princess and the Queen (2022)
Could go either way
With a slow fairly average start to House of the dragon, episode 6 does nothing to send it in the right direction.
Whilst I'm not against the time jump, I do think they could take an episode to focus on just dialogue, give us some interactions between different characters, let us know what they all think of each other 10 years on.
Some explanation would also be good as to what happened after the wedding and why sir crispy was allowed off scott free.
I feel the writers have tried to "game of thrones " it abit too hard, and have gone for killing off main characters = shock and fantastic audience response, when it really doesn't if we haven't connected with the characters.
It means nothing to me if they die because they've had 20 minutes screentime over 2 episodes and very little interaction with anyone of relevance.
On occasion the CGI looks a little off and over all I think we just need se more depth and to slow down a little to allow for it, then we might actually care what happens to our favourite characters...because we've had chance to actually form an opinion on them.
A solid average show so far.
House of the Dragon: Second of His Name (2022)
Pretty good
This episode, like the 1st two, in my opinion feels very game of thrones but something isn't quite there.
I cant shake the feeling of something is missing, I'm not sure if it's the slow dialogue, missing the witty intelligent charm of GOT, or maybe the lack of unique family's & characters.
Seeing the dragons in action is cool, but the show needs to be more than just cool.
I feel like the crab villain was killed off too fast and too easily, with no emotion, nearly every death in GOT carried emotion, you felt something, whether it be joy or sadness.
Overall not a bad episode, but so far, not a stand out show like GOT.
Interested to see where it goes.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part V (2022)
A pleasant change
So far, ive reviewed every episode of the Kenobi series, and not particularly well.
This episode however is a pleasant step in the right direction for the series, its a shame there's only one episode left.
Don't get me wrong, the unlying issues with this series are still here, there's is lots of details missing, plot holes and things just all round don't make sense. An example of this is Reva now "hunting" vader instead of kenobi, its beg the question of what we've achieved in the previous 4 episodes, what was the purpose for them and why Reva would even be on this adventure to turn down Kenobis help.
However, this episode contained some great moments, which is needed to overlook the plot holes and at times below par script.
I do think Disney need to get abit more brutal with their starwars creations, it wouldve been great to see Reva executed Dooku style, and I think it wouldve paid off as no one 3xpects this from Disney, pushing the vader/anakin destroyed storyline.
Definitely worth the watch, and a bit of fine tuning, and this series couldve been great, also as an additional point its great to see kenobi & anakin duel, with some good cheography for a change, rather than random swinging.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
It has its moments
So where to start, this is definitely not anywhere close to the level of the original jurassic parks, but I dont think any of us were expecting that.
The sets of story lines dont particularly work well together or really compliment each other and there is some truly laughable moments, also I think the "new trio" let's call them, have much worse chemistry than the old.
However that being said, to keep it short and sweet, this film has some fantastic callbacks to the originals, some interesting action scenes (although it does feel abit fast and furious at times), and I did enjoy the cinematic clips of the dinosaurs interacting with the animals we have today.
In conclusion, dont take the film to seriously, don't expect too much. Yes it feels a little lost and confused on what it wants to be, but its not an awful time, not a great one, not a particularly memorable one, but certainly not an awful one.
Worth watching for the original cast atleast, to see them one final time in characters we love.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part IV (2022)
What's the budget here?...
Beginning to think this isn't worth watching as it's only doing star wars more harm than good, this series has no fire, no energy.
The main villian/ character even, Reva has no personality, she strikes no fear and struggles even to intimidate children, let alone anyone else, as a viewer we have no tension because we know there's always a cheap get out of each scene.
Our double agent, or she hulk, as she has the power to, quite literally, one hand slap a storm trooper into confusion and defeat any enemy, again, thus creates no fear, no tension or worry for our characters.
Again we have random new characters who are 100% against helping our Jedi friend, until... you just ask him nicely again and he'll agree, like what? Why is every character in this show emotionally flat and dead.
This show has zero personality or emotional connection, the cgi looks awful in places, the fighters flying into the hanger looked like a fanfilm and we are handed another random red coat death, to show the inquisitors are mean...but it means nothing!!
A really really poor show so far, and im doubtful the last 2 episodes can save it.
They shouldve left kenobi alone.
Added note ; why is everyone always walking? There's no urgency in any scenes, like ANYWHERE.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part III (2022)
Are these 10 star reviews bots?
Where to start. Such great hype around this show and years of waiting to see Obi wan again and this is what we get.
A show riddled with plot holes and bits that just don't make sense, zero tension & and all round disappointing experience.
It was going okay right until the "friendly " transport guy decided to somehow no longer be able to hear what's said in the back of his vehicle and conveniently miss Kenobi admitting he's a jedi. The pair proceed to get off the vehicle and defeat the storm troopers in a nice fashion, with a good action scene but yet again, were met with bits that just don't make sense, why is Kenobi worrying about how to deactivate the laser gate...when you can clearly walk 3 feet to the right...and just walk around it? The scene shows he has no intention of reusing the transport.
Que convenient double agent. Wow, not seen that before.
Enter master chief looking robot, that doesn't talk, or infact, do anything.. after holding a Hammer with intention to attack the stormtroopers, upon Revas arrival, he's just not there anymore? Okay, right, cool.
Which leads me into the one way tunnel...with a person at each end, both heading towards each other, yet didnt pass in the middle, because, magic? Instead Reva teleports to the end for what I'm guessing is another lackluster chase scene to come.
Mean while, Kenobi and Vader, yes this should be it, the piece we've all been waiting for. Yet it has zero tension because everytime we get some build up, kenobi runs 10 feet away, round a corner, very slowly might I add, and wait, vader appears again. Let's do this 3 more times.
Finally they have some sort of clash, not really a fight as such, with lightsabers that look so much worse than the prequels even, like glowing tubes of plastic, which Kenobi might as well not even have as apparently 10 years off and you forget how to jedi even a little bit.
The fire scene was cool I will admit, nice to see abit of reference to ROTS and some of Vaders hate towards to Kenobi seeping through, until time traveller number 2, magically appears, shoots 1 trooper and ignites some fire, and vader now can't just force the droid and kenobi back into the flames like he could before, becauseeee...maybe the droids too heavy, I dont know, I dont think there's a reason, but he also couldn't just walk around the flames to the very slow moving droid because he's presumably too tired, maybe needs a nap...
Like what is this? Why are they absolutely butchering this series by missing out on so many details and ruining all tension build up we could've had. P.s. Pls don't let the grand inquisitor actually be dead.
