Flavor of Love (2006– )
10/10
Great Entertainment!
24 December 2006
I just bought season 1 and 2 of the unrated DVD version. This show is hilarious, and what a great way to waste a day, watching all the episodes. I am not much of a fan of reality TV. But this one is the mother of all the reality TV programs. You just could not come up with a scripted program that would be this good. Watch one of the most unattractive, over the top entertainers ever, try to pick from 20 women, all claiming to be his love match! The TV show is excellent. The DVD is perfect! I hope they have a Flava of Love 3. I would buy that in advance! Flav plays a clown on the show, an extension of his Public Enemy persona. However the surprising thing is just how intelligent he really is. There are moments when he appears wise and insightful with some of the comments that he makes. Then he does something to make you forget that he has a brain at all. What a fantastic roller coaster ride. And the ladies. You either love them or hate them. Its also nice to see the ladies interact with each other from a multi-race and cultured background. His show shows how much we have melted (as in melting pot) in America. Just 10 years ago, this show would have caused a national riot; what with White Woman, many of them blond haired and blue eyes seeking publicly to date a way out there black man. I recall less than 10 years ago when Jamie Lee Curtis was on the cover of "TV Guide" with her legs wrapped around a Black football player, it caused a major, major disturbance. Now we have a TV show with white women being sexually provocative with a black man and it's one of the the highest rated shows on TV? Thats progress folks!

Edmond (2005)
10/10
It's the politically incorrect version of "Crash".
20 December 2006
This movie makes most people uncomfortable. It's not an easy movie to watch. Its like watching a gruesome accident but not being able to stop. Edmond is a middle age man going through a crisis. His life is meaningless and boring but he is content to plod along until a series of chance encounters leads him to the decision that he must leave his life, including his wife behind. Having hidden his true nature all of his life, he suddenly releases his pent up frustrations and in doing so, takes himself down a path, not of redemption but one of degradation. He is searching for something or someone to fill a void in his life and with his new purpose of self, he becomes in fact dangerous. The transformation of Edmond from mild mannered and dutiful citizen to an angry, rebellious zealot is fascinating. I immediately went out to buy this movie after purchasing it from Redbox. I am not surprised that this movie was never released widespread. It would surely have caused a huge ruckus in our politically correct society. I know I am being vague. But if you want to watch a movie that is totally different from the standard fare, then see this movie. The big surprise at the end is the actor Bokine Woodbine, who plays a significant but very small role, that puts a fitting end to this thoroughly entertaining, disturbing and engrossing movie. William H. Macy, is superb, and who knew that he actually has a great body for a man his age.

Hysterically Funny! A Comedic Masterpiece!
28 November 2006
Wow! It finally happened! Steve Martin and Eddie Murphy Together! This movie is genius! There is so much going on here and Steve and Eddie are at their best. From the opening scene, you can just tell you are in for a real treat. This is one of my all time favorite movies. And people who voted less than excellent for this movie; either hate comedy or don't know how to enjoy real comedy. Eddie Murphy again does double duty playing two completely different characters, one more funnier than the next. Steve Martin plays the not so straight man director. This is a madcap screwball comedy. And the highway scene is tears crying down your face funny! I highly recommend this movie to any one who loves to really laugh! Unless your dead, you can't help but laugh. I don't mean chuckle, grin, smile etc. I mean laugh!!!!

Cars (2006)
3/10
Boring
3 July 2006
I admit it! I thought this was a kid's movie, but it turns out to be too complicated and the action too stagnant to keep my grandkids attention. OK, so maybe you I shouldn't have takena 3 year old with a passion for cars and 16 month old whose only interest is what ever his brother's doing. But who is this movie's core audience? As an adult movie, it had a few laughs but far and few between. The animation,ho-hum. How interesting is a bunch of animated cars? The races were uninspiring. Thanks goodness they didn't feature the full 160 lap race. My 16 month old got rather fidgety and had to be removed from the theatre; he found the lobby much more fun. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone but the feeble minded and the easily entertained. All I felt after this movie was tired!

My Latest Favorite Movie!
11 July 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I kept saying when this movie came out in theaters, that I would see it, but I never did. It just was not a priority as I underestimated the ability of the Hughes brothers to direct a period piece. Well I rented it and from the very beginning I was rooting for this film but didn't expect much, and 10 minutes into the film, I knew I was watching a brilliant movie. At first I tried to find flaws, but became so engrossed in the story that I soon just allowed myself to enjoy it. As far as the accents, they may not have been true cockney, but I often have have trouble understanding the real thing! I rented Snatch which seemed funny during the trailers but after 5 minutes the accents drove me buggers!!! I found the acting delightful, with excellent and believable performers. The movie was so visually stimulating that I had to watch it several times just to capture all the nuances of the extra's! I noticed a lot of people criticized the story line, the direction etc. Don't people go to the movies to be entertained anymore? Or does everybody now seek higher education. I was very impressed that the Hughes brothers known for their "hood" movies successfully directed an all "White period piece" proving that the world is really getting smaller and more familiar. This movie is a triumph on so many levels. Who cares that the theory the movie was based on is in my opinion, one of the least likely. But boy what a great story. And for some of us who still care about such things, a great story is all we ultimately care about. I highly recommend this movie to anyone!
