The Andy Griffith Show: Opie the Birdman (1963)
One of the best episodes in the entire series...
This is one of my favorite episodes and highlights everything that makes the Andy Griffith Show a classic and timeless television series. Watching this one episode can hook a viewer who has never seen the show!
The Circle (2018)
This is a wonderful short!
This is a touching short story about a boy named Lucas (Noah Schnapp of Stranger Things) reconnecting with his estranged father (Ryan Phillipe) who is a street artist during the Great Depression era.
Perhaps, the most impressive aspect of this short is that it was shot entirely with a camera mounted on a DJI Inspire 2 drone.
Truly an outstanding production from talented people with state of the art equipment. Well done!
Saved! (2004)
An impressive performance by all!
I must say that I did not have high hopes for this movie. The previews weren't what got me to watch. Frankly, I watched the movie for the subject matter. I thought it might be funny to watch a movie dedicated to lampooning Christianity - and, it certainly was. I think every Christian should watch it (LOL!).
The movie was light, fun, tongue-in-cheek, with a reasonable blend of teenage angst, and just enough love interest to make you care about the characters - plus an absolutely flawless caricature of Christianity.
I was particularly impressed by Macauley Culkin's performance. It's the first thing I've seen him in since he was just a child actor. He's matured nicely - in many ways. I look forward to his future endeavors.
It is a must see for anyone who was raised as a Christian and managed to wrest themselves away from the blood cult.
The Producers (2005)
Excruciatingly Painful to Watch...
Not since the likes of The Stupids and Dumb and Dumber have I disliked a movie so much. I absolutely hated it from the first frame to the last. I hope never to be reminded of it, again.
As much as I enjoy watching both Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane, and Mel Brooks movies, I can say, without reservation, that they have committed a travesty against the movie going public with this total disaster of a movie.
The irony is that the movie is about making an abysmally bad play. Well, they succeeded in making a BAD movie about making a BAD play.
The acting was too animated, too campy, and just plain too stupid to enjoy. They utterly failed at getting me to like even one person who had the misfortune to appear in it.
I was shocked at how quickly my instincts kicked in to flee from the theater. But, I forced myself to watch it in its entirety, anyway. In fact, I'm usually rather ambivalent about the ratings of movies on IMDb; but, to see this movie get a rating of 7.2 when it should have been thrown in the trash and forgotten was too much for me to bear. I just HAVE to warn others NOT to spend their money or their time (it's not worth watching, even if they paid YOU $8.75 to see it). I would be more entertained by doing my taxes.
Please, Matthew, Nathan don't ever do anything like this ever, again.
