"Parks and Rec" has, masterfully, shown the characters failing and coping with their failures, throughout the series. From Andy failing at becoming a police officer, Leslie getting recalled, or Ice World, failure is presented as a very real part of life. As a series, it's among the greats.
Now to this finale:
First the good. Andy and April having their baby just minutes into November First and missing Halloween was hilarious. The entire scene was well done. Tom's ending was perfect. Tom using his failures to spread the message about overcoming and moving on summarized one of the main themes of the series. His speech was what was needed to wrap things up. If it would've ended there, it would have done the series a great service. But no...
Every character has a Disney-esque, over-the-top, ending. Leslie becomes governor of Indiana, Ben is hinted at becoming President, and Garry is the mayor. It's too much and appears to undo what they've established as a theme for the series. It felt like an insult to the fans and characters to have them all have fairy tale endings.
The series should have ended with Andy and April's baby and Tom's speech.
