House of Gucci (2021)
Gaga can't act
I am sorry but Gaga is not an actress, her accent makes her performance even more ridiculous. And she with Adam should carry the whole movie. Adam did a decent job together with Mr. Irons. I think that Jared Leto went too far with his portrayal of a frivolous Italian designer but at least it brought some fun into the movie. The running time is way too long, it could have been just an hour and a half, there were parts when it got a bit boring and it did not keep the viewers attention. I have enjoyed the music selection throughout the movie, but overall it was more disappointing than enjoyable experience.
Ghosted (2023)
No emotional reaction
Well not the best cast selection here. It had "Knight and Day" vibe but with reversed roles. I would not mind a strong female character, but Ana seemed a bit off in this role. Also the match with Chris just did not work. It was hard to connect with their characters as their acting was cringe and in most of the scenes it felt more stiff than natural. Those little cameos of other hollywood actors just seemed ridiculous and with no actual addition to the plot, which was pretty basic. Even the popular songs did not help the overall dissapointing watching experience. Ana and Chris are not bad actors but this one just did not click for either of them, sorry.
Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023)
Bit disappointing
I have to admit that I expected more from this movie. I like Guy Ritchie's projects and the cast was also promising, but the characters were a bit dull and I was bored through 80% of the movie. I missed Ritchie's signature scene cuts. The action scenes were OK, but humor was lacking, even Hugh Grant with his dirty talk came out more creepy than fun. Overall I am happy that I did not spend money to see this in the cinema. If you want to watch a movie just to pass time or play in the background you can go for this one. But there are more enjoyable Ritchie movies like The man from U.n.c.l.e or The Gentlemen.
The Pale Blue Eye (2022)
One of the best drama movies recently
Christian Bale never disappoints, but also Harry Melling was amazing in this and his performance at the end was just mesmerizing, do have your tissues at hand. Overall very captivating movie where you are invested in the characters' stories from the beginning. Greatly complemented by music and outdoor shots. The classic "who done it" with a twist at the end. Sorry not sorry but I am fully on board with Christians character decision and glad that the movie ended in a way it did. For me it was a fitting conclusion to a rather violent and heart-breaking story of his daughter. I gave a 10 because it is one of few movies lately that tell a very complex story.
The Menu (2022)
Not my cup of tea
Well besides the stylish design of the set and a bit of survival sense in Margot there is nothing enjoyable in this movie. The psycho chef is just obnoxious to watch and his brainwashed minions in the kitchen seem more like a cult than culinary entusiasts. Majority of the cast is just ridiculously apathetic given the circumstances. At least one of them is trying to find a way out and succeeds in the most cliche ending scene ever (eating a hamburger), but I guess so cool for the dumb american audience. Well for me it was a waste of time watching this and I suggest to everyone who wants to keep their mental health strong to avoid this film.
Emily in Paris (2020)
One star just for Mindy
Honestly I feel sorry for wasting my time on season 3. The characters are running in circles, no character development. But I guess this show is intended for dumb, naive tools like Emily. Her outfits are just ridiculous and like come on everything in the world just works in her favour, it gets very boring and really I felt my brain cells dying while watching this. The only one that I enjoyed watching was Mindy. The romance scenes are not sexy at all, and if the director thinks that close ups of a couple eating different food is sensual then I call fail. Save your valuable time on this Earth and skip this.
The Office: Finale (2013)
The 9th season was saved!
Well those last two episodes saved the whole 9th season! Full of emotions and the storyline for each of these corky characters did end in the best possible way. Loved the final messages from all, could do without the psycho addictive relationship twist of Kelly and Ryan but overall great finale!
The Office: Moving On (2013)
Thanks for ruining the show
This was the most annoying episode ever! Andy is just the biggest a**hole in the universe and poor Pete is just a good guy loving Erin for the simpleton she is. But Andy is just disgusting with his psycho behaviour. Honestly in season 9 there are very few things enjoyable to watch, the show should have ended when Carell left.
Force of Nature (2020)
What a piece of sh..
Well I am just surprised that Gibson said yes to this. Even his acting was on a level of B-movies from the 90s. The highlight of the whole movie was when he replied to a cop asking what kind of meds is he taking with "oxymoron" :) Really and the background music throughout the whole movie was just super lame. If you have 90mins to waste you can watch this, otherwise please don't.
Black Mirror: Metalhead (2017)
Lead character is boring
Sorry to say but the lead character of this episode is the only reason why I rated it so low. That blond lady is just old and acting too much like a woman throughout the whole episode with her pathetic screams and like seriously a grown woman with a gun can't take down one stupid three legged bot dog for so long? That is just nerve wrecking, this is one of the few BM episodes I could barely watch till the end.
Upgrade (2018)
Total surprise
Honestly I did not expect this movie to be so good! Based on the quite unknown cast and budget but it blew me away. I have seen Logan Marshall-Green in just few movies but here he killed it with his performance (pun intended). The way he was moving with the Stem and the way he acted out those fight scenes was mind blowing and so much fun to watch. Really enjoyable piece with good music and cool sets, not pushing it too much to be futuristic but just enough to pull us into the atmosphere. I recommend it to anyone who likes sci-fi cyber themed movies with several cool action parts.
Phantom Thread (2017)
Krieps is creepy
Well this is a classic relationship story when the girl is trying to change the guy to her own image. I liked the fashion related parts and Daniel was amazing but the character Krieps played became more ridiculous towards the end of the movie. Seriously using poisonous mushrooms just to get some love and gratitude back from your husband that is just crazy. I think that was just too much. And Krieps became creepy towards the end with her fake smiles and crazy eyes. It was not about love anymore but some insane selfish craving to be acknowledged.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
Hard to sit through till the end
I like psychological thrillers but this was just a big headache from the start till the end. I am sorry but I think that the director is not alright mentally. Filming things like when wife pretends to be in general anaesthetic so that her husband can get his tool to stand up and have intercourse is just sick, not mentioning a secret story about jerking off his father when he was a little boy like really this is the artsy cinematography of these days? It makes me want to vomit. I think this is one of the worst performances from Colin, he is talking like a robot the whole movie not creating even slightest bond with viewers. The only relatable character is Nicole, who portrays a carrying mother just trying to cope with the life she has including a useless, weirdo of a husband, slutty and bitchy daughter and cute but very secluded son. She was the only reason why I managed to sit through till the end. Other than that the music was terrible, not creating any tension just full on annoying. The actor who played Martin did a very good job because I haven´t seen such repulsive movie character in a long time and I guess that it was his goal in the movie. I found the plot quite intriguing but the amount of disturbing scenes, the android like performances and horrible music diminished it to a pain-in-the-ass movie that I would not recommend to anyone. And the ending just made me upset. I would definitely choose someone else to get shot. I do not believe that this was based on a greek tragedy cause even mixing some ancient legend with modern day life and sci-fi supernatural power is preposterous.
Mr. Robot: eps2.4_m4ster-s1ave.aes (2016)
From funny to too brutal
Spoiler alert, of course the following text can contain details from what happened on the show. So this episode really took me by surprise with the beginning as a family sitcom where Elliot was just rolling his big eyes most of the time. But this was actually the better part of the episode, I even laughed a bit which since the first season happened very rarely. But when it came back to the normal resolution and reality it got worse. It really broke my heart how bad Elliot ended up from helping that Ray guy. Like seriously isn't he already dealing with enough sh*t in his life? He has to get beat up like some street dog by this bunch of idiots who are selling guns and god knows what else online? I think you took it too far here Sam! I am already hurting a lot watching Elliot suffer through most of the time but this just got too violent. Also Angela is getting on my nerves, with her listening to the pathetic motivational crap all the time thinking that she can accomplish anything. It just makes her appear more stupid and naive than before. Overall I am having hard time continuing to watch this show, but just for the awesome acting job by Rami Malek I will keep on watching.
The Neon Demon (2016)
Visual excellence
First of all I would like to say that this movie has to be seen by anyone who likes art because it is a visual masterpiece. The usage of colors and different lighting was amazing. Also music was very well paired with all scenes. All characters are well portrayed and in my opinion Jena Malone was the greatest! I am sorry to say that but the innocence which should be the main essence of Jesse's character slipped more to stupidity due to facial expressions of Elle Fanning. Nothing against her, she is pretty and interesting-looking. But really it was more off-putting than relatable for me to watch her face when e.g. she posed for the photographer. And because of that I can't rate it higher than 6. I could think of far better actresses for Jesse's role e.g. Chloe Moretz, Sophie Turner. Overall it is an interesting view of the modeling world which resembles the meat market a lot.
Irrational Man (2015)
Emma not the best choice
Nothing against Emma Stone but in this movie she was really irritating. The way she treated her boyfriend and being so needy around the professor was just too much. I think that this main female character could have had better cast. I really liked Parker Poseys character more. Joaquin was great in portraying such bored character in the beginning of the movie. And later on so aroused by his amazing plan to get rid of the judge. The only fun thing was actually how it gave him the kick to enjoy life again. The length of 95 min was quite enough. Except the middle and end of the movie it has quite slow pace. Does the ending mean that karma is real? :) Nice pass-time movie but I would not go to see this in theater.
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials (2015)
Not that bad at all
I have just finished the book and I have to say that I like the movie more.Sure many important parts of the story were missing and it was a bit confusing and without connecting points sometime but at least it wasn't so violent and negative as the book. I did not like how it was against Thomas all the time, I mean common he was suffering almost throughout the whole book. The only bad points in the movie were that the sick people were zombies without explaining how they got sick and what are the stages and also that Teresa was not significant at all in the movie but in the book she played quite crucial role of the betrayer. I hope that the director will focus on the story more than on effects in the next movie.
